Not everything needs to be nerds v jocks discourse, but a lotta nerds would've really benefited from attending a blowout football game in their youth and hearing a stadium full of adolescents chant "SCORE-BOARD".

This doesn't change the fundamental analysis that attempting to manage an economy with only three levers - tax policy, monetary policy, and being nice to investment banks - puts capital first, voters and workers second. The root cause is still "treating workers as an expense."

I love that Pulp looks like the faculty of an arts department that is constantly under siege by the administration of a small state college.

It's good to see that TORCHBEARER trends a little in the opposite direction (as do so many other games: APOCALYPSE WORLD, RUNEQUEST, even TRAVELLER to a degree). But I'd love to see more.

In real life, your skills and attributes are not things you can pick up and take with you to any community in the world. But in the world of fantasy Euro-ronin assumed by D&D - and copied by countless other games - they have to be. You have to be able to move where the adventure takes you (cont'd).

So many things we think of as personal traits are really relational traits. "Leadership" isn't an attribute in itself; it defines your relationship to people. We know about the social determinants of health. Your skill is a function of time and resources invested in training. (cont'd)

The "job" of the developer is to get together whoever owns the land, whoever constructs the arena, whoever owns the franchise, whoever will sponsor the arena, and the municipal development authority, and get everyone to agree to the deal BEFORE or AT THE SAME TIME AS everyone else.

It'd take longer to explain than I have the energy for tonight but, long story short: the person or company who gets in the middle of that process is usually called a "developer" and, if they're good enough at it, they can become President of the United States.
