But to drop the bombs without first settling the issue of legality is surely a violation of the charter?

After Israeli bombing, Xi Jinping telephoned a counterpart to agree: “the use of force is not a right way to resolve international disputes” and “the red line of protecting civilians must not be crossed.” His lofty words were undercut only by the record of the other on the line, Vladimir Putin.

Tamaki was at least partly responsible for stripping away the Rengo support from the CDPJ. (One reason I hate the guy.)

It was widely discussed on Japanese TV.

Yes the South China Sea is full of them, sure, despite all those promises of "peaceful development" or whatever it was. But there are already lots of both Japanese and Chinese gas drilling platforms in the ECS. The problem there is more about agreements over sharing, broken by the Chinese.

Is this about a military base? The article says it's related to gas extraction. Chinese breaking of gas development agreements is bad enough of course.

The end is very nice. I suppose you'd have had to reset the exposure or something to go on into the evening? But personally I prefer it with the sound off.

In Japan Twitter is still the default medium for so many people and organizations. I hate it but there it is.

Japan's pacifism is rapidly fading in the face of the Chinese, N Korean and Russian threat, just as in Europe. The devastation of WW2 ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_W... ) did have an effect on public opinion of course, but to claim it brought about lasting peace is pushing it a bit iMO.
