Ah, you’re too kind. It was a shame it never got traction (or a trad home before my agent jumped ship). It was a lot of fun to write…

I mean, it’s very poorly targeted spam anyway. It’s not like I (a) have an office or (b) need any furniture of any kind.

It's strange that ghost written novels are so accepted, if a celebrity said he was exhibiting a collection of paintings that turned out to be painted by someone else we'd all think he was having a breakdown.

Yeah, that ship sailed long ago. Apparently taking everyone’s spines with it.

We're not a new release, but we're an important one, especially now. Proceeds go to the Chicago Abortion Fund. 🫀 cosmichorrormonthly.com/store/pre-or...

Yeah, it's luckily easy enough to toggle (unless people have followed some of the advice I've seen to edit their system registry to get rid of it...). I *am* mildly curious how many people doing it have left Windows Copilot on, though...

I mean, anything that makes it less likely to look stuff up on Bing can only be a bonus (I, of course, joke), but to my knowledge - which could be wrong - all you're doing by turning Connected Experiences off is make Word's spellchecker and text-to-speech a bit shitter.

I've done both: sometimes had to ask around, hit-and-hope style, and sometimes my editor's said, "I'm going to ask [Big Name Writer They Know]."

(Which is why I guess turning it off maybe borked autosave, if that's going to OneDrive.) (Windows "Copilot", which *is* AI-driven, *is* garbage - and unfortunately baked-in to the OS.)

Yeah, as noted above, it's not Gen AI at all. "Connected experiences" is a dreadful term, but it's spellchecking, transcription/text-to-speech, machine translation, etc. that pulls data from another MS service (eg adding Bing weather to an email msg). Full list: learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/micros...

This is - weirdly, I’ve always felt, because I just don’t *get* the substitution - one of the most common copyedit changes I have to make.

The absolute worst.

I’m not sure that’s possible.

Eight of mine, apparently. Three of which are only self-published in the US. I wonder how these guys would feel if I wandered into their house and started eating their food.
