Well, the original icon kind of made the user a white guy by default. Now the white guy is the computer, which tracks with inherent bias in AI model training.

There are unknown factors here. Typically people host their podcasts on a server somewhere and Apple Podcasts just works as a search engine, letting you find them. But recently, Apple has offered the option to upload shows to their service, and that’s where a paywall could come into play, I guess.

Overcast uses the Apple directory to find Podcasts, though, like most indie apps do.

Mac OS 9 had this awesome little app that showed widget sized floating windows for your iTunes album covers, with no added chrome, just the image. Tons of albums thrown across the desktop in a glorious mess, and playing them just a click away. Or maybe #mandelaeffect.

It’s also a sign of of stability, as it’s a long standing Apple tactic to delay introduction of new emoji until they have an OS point release they really want consumers to adopt. Emoji drive the update cycle, not lackluster AI features. Predictable, yes; sad, kinda.

All of the proposed ones and some fuzzyness to accept close matches; time to break free from the tyranny of singular values

I think iCloud folders for eg. ”Desktop” and ”Documents” actually reside in the user’s Library/Mobile Documents/ and are ignored by Hyperspace.
