I think one problem that exists in the discourse is Dems want to run someone who is popular nationally, but few people who have the profile to run for president are also free of baggage. Obama's rise, skill, and charisma was generational, but we keep trying to replicate it.

Based on social media, Pete Buttegieg is clearly running in '28 and is already campaigning. AOC might be, but I think may just be organizing because she believes in the movement. I don't think anyone else is actively campaigning. Mayor Pete is everywhere, and has a wilderness/elder millennial beard.

People spend a lot of time wondering why the left is worse at using independent media to control the national narrative. A useful exercise is to ask why the left is also worse at selling snake oil and pyramid schemes, because I think the reasons are basically exactly the same.
