Yeah, in the abstract there’s huge interest in competitive games between teams which never meet. But with Bayern win 10-0, Messi’s team in on a consolation trophy, Barcelona, Liverpool etc missing. It’s not really doing it. Ticket prices are too much also

Really nice piece! I'd only disagree with "much anticipated", a lot of people though this stupid tournament was pointless, even counterproductive even before Trump was elected. FIFA similarly corrupt as the Trump administration, there would have to be a massive financial threat against the WC.
