This is so similar to the Oh, It's Such A Perfect Day video I'm guessing the same guy directed it. youtu.be/XEguAz7K73s?...

Obv I prefer the original version on other side of The Other Side of Love but this takes it in a completely different direction. youtu.be/HtG9gZ-irlY?...

"4am in the morning..." As opposed to the 4ams that happen later in the day.

It is one of the ones where they went for really 'theatrical' ie cheap sets and it's lit like an edition of Blankety Blank. w/ Rossiter I think they were afraid of letting any comedy slip in, because of his comedic baggage.

Okay, that was everything I thought it would be. Has that real "it is far too early in the morning for this" awkwardness.

ISTR we watched the snooker back then, my brother was very keen, and they would just go 'Yeah, you missed some snooker, it was great, but fear not, here's some more snooker, as we go over live to the crucible, with Terry Griffiths to break..."

Fortunately this episode survived the junkings.

I had THE BBC MICRO an expert guide * DISCOVERING BBC MICRO MACHINE CODE but TBH I was only 11, learning to write in machine code was beyond me.

I don't bother with anything from the mid-90s onwards, too recent.

No, at 8 it's Call My Bluff with Sarah Greene guesting - quite the day for fans of Sarah Greene - followed at 8.30 by Italians, half an hour on Giovanna Mazzorochi. Snooker resumes at 9.25 on BBC 1 and continues until 12.30 (!).

There is another Doctor Who connection. (And not Sarah Greene either)

That's a nightmare parallel universe Bob, what if the Welsh weren't the happy-go-lucky folk in big, buckled hats that we all know and love.

Yep. There's a clip on YouTube of Rowan performing some insipid material and rightly dying a death.

"Any Doctor Who?" I hear you cry. No, it wasn't on this week. But the back page may trigger some Proustian tingles. Fill your boots, nerds!

A classic episode of Bergerac. But of more interest is the edition of Crackerjack shown earlier. What was notable about this particular episode?

I don't remember Star Trek being on BBC 1 before the news but it was, so this must be when I first watched it.

Neil doing Pink Floyd on Saturday Superstore? Does this still exist? Meanwhile the three Adrics still haven't reached the bloody mountains. (A TRIPOD WALKS PAST IN THE FAR DISTANCE)

The lost art of the humorous Radio Times listing.

Lots on Rigsby appearing in King John from beyond the grave. What a cast, though.

So much for alternative comedy!

People are replying to this as though it is a serious suggestion, and quite right too, this is a serious suggestion.

There's an episode of End of Part One where they parody it wonderfully.

I don't like the animation, it reminds me of the similarly bare bones style of the Tarzan cartoon that was shown during Swap Shop, if you remember that. I'm surprised that the fans or the studio haven't re-done it with rinky-dinky CGI etc.

Interesting story, ends on a "Well, we didn't really solve anything, did we?" note, which is a bit off-formula for a children's cartoon. The dialogue though is pure clackavoid, nothing but technobabble and "As you know, Captain"-level exposition.

That said, you have this, massively improving the song with a four-on-the-floor beat, harmonies, and some Lennon-esque rough edges. The original sounds half-arsed by comparison. youtu.be/7dfMuqyrJeU?...
