I escaped to places like this to give myself a reprieve to start focusing on what DOES make me happy, and to create new boundaries to prevent those people from gaining any more of my time.

At some point, communities have to step up better to police themselves. But more importantly: without your presence. Sometimes, as I have learned, the best thing you can do is remove yourself. That often sends enough of a message for others to follow suit.
