Happy to help - it's hard to suggest the downside without being a huge downer, I have seen so many complaints, though. Cheers!

Couldn't agree more. I say that while wearing normal shorts.

In spite of my other reply, I sympathize. It's no fun to see a nice pen you'd like. The bad part is FWP is a prime FOMO marketer and they are counting on just that reaction. Don't be surprised if you see them on the 2nd hand market soon after launching! Hang in there...
comment in response to post
If it means anything at all, to take away the sting, FWP makes trendy but passable inks, but their pens are routinely way overpriced pieces of near-junk. They are a marketing company wrapped in writing aesthetic, and I hate to see people find out the hard way how bad their pens are.

If you are one of the people that craves an item like this, you already know the answer.

You better believe it.

That is exactly the same word I used when I posted the story. And who ARE these orcs doing the beatdown?

Un-f***ing believable! Soups was supposed to be setups - i gotta shut off autocorrect on my phone.

Certainly can't hurt to try it! Hope it works, but these modern attempts at flex nibs need almost perfect soups to be satisfying. Best of luck!

"normal" is supposed to read "not".

Well... you are using the Jinhao feed, right? The nib is either too long or normal pushed in all the way. The feed should extend almost to nib tip for a good supply of ink. Here is a similar setup I have, Osprey flex w ebonite feed:

1/2 - Ok, well, hope it all works! I was correct in my assumption: the 82 has a threaded nib unit inside the section, and the entire unit/feed/nib are unscrewed counter-clockwise to remove. If that supplies the connection to the converter, you will have to still use it. See below.

2/2 - such that it needs to be rotated to a certain spot before pushing in. A number of feeds are like this. Unless you have somehow damaged something, the original should go back in. Before that, compare the size of the feeds and nibs to see if the new ones are larger in length and girth.

1/2 - I don't want this to sound like a flip answer, but when I'm working on pens, that is precisely the point where I put things down and come back to them later. I would suggest as a first step to reinsert the original nib and feed, and take a look to see if there are any 'flat spots' on the feed

2/2 - If you can't line the nib up on the feed, hold the two together, and push it back into the pen so the proper amount sticks out, then you have the wrong size feed/nib. Not all parts can be swapped between pens, between brands, etc, etc. I don't think that is going to work.
comment in response to post
1/2 -No, nibs do not 'hook onto' a feed most of the time. The nib should be placed on the feed and then the two slid into the pen together. If the feed is already a snub fit - and it isn't deep enough into the pen right now - then the nib won't fit at all.

There is little standardization in the fountain pen world, and what one pen does is not indicative of another. I only replaced a nib on a J82 once, for a person in our pen club. IIRC, it was simply putting the feed and nib into the section. I used the Jinhao feed, and the nib was the right size.
comment in response to post
Also, the vast majority of the time you should be inserting the nib and feed *at the same time*, not separately. You place the nib on top of the feed placed in the right position front/back and left/right, and push the nib/feed all at once into either the section or a nib unit (collar).

1/2 - It is a little hard to understand your issue, but if you have inserted the feed into the 82 (either directly or into the nib/feed unit, if it has one)... if the feed will not insert tightly, or it won't insert at all, then the nib and feed are not the right size for the pen.

Here's the entire fountain pen, if you are interested - it's a wonderful writer, too:

I like it for the red ebonite! However, my 823 was more than adequate in flow with the stock feed.

Yeah, go in and fuck with the algorithms until it gives you the answer you want, not the one that is correct. Theranos-level bullshit.

FWIW, I have been writing with fountain pens since middle school, starting in 1965 or so. I'm left-handed.

And seeing as there is precious little that I can do to affect any of this development, the warning only moves higher the needle on my anxiety index. It becomes clear how "ignorance is bliss" has had such a long life as a saying.

That's me! I can see me and my friends... uh, somewhere in there! Seriously, it was incredible, easily the biggest turnout in my life here in SD. Peaceful, focused, and positive, with no issues at all. We will have to do this again and again until we achieve change. Today, SD stayed classy. 😉

Indeed. Thank you for saying so, as well.
