In all seriousness I do think the tax structure is a major flaw of the program — the premiums are taken out of paycheck after tax, you can have federal tax withheld from the disbursements but not state tax, and unlike almost all other states that have PFL programs, NY considers it taxable income.

Also: Even if you have an employer who talks a big game about being supportive of families, when you tell them you’d like to take more time off and are entitled to do so by state law, you see really quickly if they’re telling the truth
