"Well-meaning people on both sides of the 'should you be allowed to invade your neighbors and commit genocide' debate can disagree in good faith, but Hitler WAS elected to do that job. You wouldn't go to war with a guy who's just DOING HIS JOB? Next you'll say we should boo him at restaurants!"

Holy shit. This is amazing.

Gary Numan still out there absolutely getting it DONE. And the other vocalist is his daughter, which is absolutely adorable.

Our favorite sushi spot got some attention recently. It’s in a strip mall with a Chipotle, and Starbucks and a nail salon, so we were worried the vibes might have drifted. But they have responded by hiding John Cena action figures in various places, so I am pleased to say the vibes remain perfect.

It appears that some creature deposited some pepper seeds in with these hummingbird-friendly flowers. Habaneros, I believe, since we grow those elsewhere in the yard.

This is a tremendous explanation of why “AI Agents” - especially those aimed at consumers - are a security disaster waiting to happen. Take a couple of minutes to listen to it, even if you already understand because how she presents it is also worth hearing.

One of the reasons B&N has turned around in recent years and is thriving again was the decision to leave decisions like what to put in the windows and what to promote with in-store displays up to the staff in each location.

“Don’t let a win get to your head or a loss to your heart.” A coworker said that to a bunch of us 20 years ago, almost to the day, when I first experienced the cancellation of a game I’d worked on (Imperator). It’s a @chuckdpe.bsky.social line, but we let it slide because we needed to hear it.

This is from payment service Stripe's CEO, Patrick Collison. Had he worded this in ANY other way, it might be a bit more palatable, but suggesting that the human longing to invest ourselves in and to fully experience art is a "desire" that needs to be "cured" REALLY bums me out.

Around these parts, we call this “all hat, no cattle”.

I guess he'll split the "panicking Wall Street jerks" vote with Adams.

In case there had ever been any doubt that he liked the Mars idea because it would let him make a planetary-scale company town: “Mars was supposed to be a political project… in 2024 Elon came to believe that if you went to Mars, the socialist US government, the woke AI would follow you to Mars.”

Well, that’s some rare good news. I’ve never really gotten over Scalia’s old argument that it’s not illegal for the government to murder innocent people if it would be kind of inconvenient for them to double check the evidence first.

Bunnies do NOT like dill, it seems.

All done.

There are different incentives for young people and older people in any scenario and the solutions they will consider are heavily influenced by that. Someone in their 30s has a LOT of time left to live with whatever choices we make now. It makes them less (small c) conservative, and rightly so.

Considering a mid-career pivot.

Phil Winslade

In 1776, Thomas Jefferson was 33. Alexander Hamilton was 21. James Madison was 25. James Monroe was 18. But who’d ever want to let those guys run a government?

We are now SQUARELY into the period where any candidate who doesn’t have a favorite video game from childhood is too old to be in office.

The games business is about games. If you’re in the games business, and somehow (as often happens) your company somehow is now focused on something else (AI, XR, “IP,” acquisitions, etc.) you’re in for a period of struggle. Everyone will wonder what’s wrong. But you know. It’s about games. Gameplay.
