Shouting out my incredible colleagues in independent media who are doing amazing work to tell the story of the LA anti-ICE raids and subsequent overreaction from the WH. I have deep respect for the consistent care and accuracy in their reporting. Follow them, support their work. 🧵

www.uncannymagazine.com/article/thre... A well-deserved nomination for a great story by the super cool @byzantienne.bsky.social

Just finished reading this! Such great characters. What always stands out to me about her writing is the vividness of the descriptions. I end up with memories of physical feelings like I was really there. Also centering women, where a bunch of the key plot moments are in the midst of embroidery.

what is the best fund to support children or seperated families taken by ICE?

White flight ☠️😂

Hi! In July I'm once again running a program for K-12 math teachers called "21st century mathematics". Its goal is to help teachers to connect math they teach with some math that has been discovered in the 21st century. Pass it along! Info+register: justinlanier.org/21st-century...

I’ve been wearing a rainbow bracelet the last couple days for Pride Month and yesterday two people commented on it in a way that made me feel like I was secretly in this video, it’s really lovely youtu.be/UVepoXddTW4?... 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Look Ma, I got interviewed! Watch me talk to Rafael Frumkin about the density of psychoanalysts per capita in Argentina, authoritarian regimes, worldbuilding, the difference between writing plays and fiction and more beloooooow

I am severely in love with how the trump/musk manly-man fans are trying this “people aren’t used to seeing how masculine men argue” thing. yes bros that’s right. being a messy bitch online, that’s real alpha behavior. if Achilles were alive today he’d be in Hector’s mentions on social fucking media

Great book! Is Becky Chambers on bluesky? My latest read was A Sorceress Comes to Call @tkingfisher.com

Jonathan Joss' husband Tristan has released another statement saying that donations to their old home GoFundMe are not needed at this time and would ask for everyone to direct their energy towards spreading the message about how he was in fact murdered in a hate crime

This is devastating. Sweeps should be obviously immoral, but many people think of camp sites as visual blights, inconveniences, or places that make them uncomfortable. This is what your comfort costs.

The U.S. Mint has issued a quarter-dollar coin celebrating the life and work of the codiscoverer of dark matter in galaxies, Vera Rubin. buff.ly/Iyog7o9 . . #astronomy #quarter #verarubin #womeninscience #darkmatter #collectable

I’m in this anthology too!

DEMOCRACY: "Bigotry is an entrenched power system. It’s instilled, inherited, fertilized, prolonged, stoked and carefully tended," Donna Ladd writes.

"Claiming joy in our bodies and bonds is a radical act of self-love and resistance for queer Indian youth." Aashima Rawal kicks off Pride month for our readers in and from India to help reclaim pride and pleasure in culture and identity. Happy #Pride! www.scarleteen.com/read/cultu...

happy pride month to bluesky, a platform that is successful today because of the trans and queer users who made it a cool place to be. love y’all 🩷❤️🧡💛💚💙

Would you like to read a book?? Vogue calls Woodworking, my debut novel, “A testament to the power of intergenerational trans stories . . . dazzling.” I don’t know, that sounds great to me!! bookshop.org/p/books/wood...

I really appreciate both the Chronicle’s sports desk and the student-athletes who are stepping up.

This is what "anti-DEI" means to the Trump administration. It's not "some corporate DEI measures are pointless or counterproductive," it's "women and people of color are presumptively unqualified for important government jobs"

"The death of human empathy is one of the earliest and most telling signs of a culture about to fall into barbarism." - Hannah Arendt

So all the major pubs steal from her and go to great lengths not to link out so if you want to read about shit three days before it shows up as Breaking News in the WaPo you should subscribe to The Handbasket.

Can't wait to talk with @kateelliottsff.bsky.social this afternoon! Today at 2:30 Central, hope to see you there! www.youtube.com/live/sPEBoRa...

Here's NASA astrophysics, if I read the president's proposed budget correctly. 🔭
