His removal is not the most shocking fact here. He was forced to the ground and handcuffed for no reason.

Yeah, you've called me MAGA twice and have mis-stated my views repeatedly. It's either dishonesty or stupidity and I'm done trying to figure out which. Bye.

You basically said it verbatim right here. No wonder you keep creating separate threads so nobody can follow the conversation. Wildly dishonest behavior. bsky.app/profile/baym...

Right, my whole point is that Israel's leaders and far right groups claiming they represent "the jews" while acting horribly on the world stage is making all jews everywhere less safe. A point you keep misunderstanding for very obvious reasons.

There are large factions, in Israel and outside, claiming any criticism of Israeli policy is by definition antisemitic. The leaders of Israel not only support this but openly claim that mantle themselves. Regardless of your "antisemitism exists so who cares" they are making it much, much worse.

Antisemitism exists regardless. But Israel's government acting as moral monsters - publicly supporting mass removals of palestinians (aka ethnic cleansing), or publicly opining they wish they could starve millions to death, etc - Make us appear to be monsters to the world. And people hate monsters.

HEY! Dave made the cuts necessary to save the program that people liked! If anything this is because Kevin Kline isn't starring in movies anymore.

The vast majority of countries don't claim to be a religious homeland with leaders claiming they represent "the - people." Add on top of that the brigade of forces around the world who work tirelessly to accuse anyone critical of Israel of antisemitism? Yeah, it's a uniquely shitty situation for us.

Blaming the jews is good old fashioned antisemitism. Holding democratic leaders of a nation responsible for their atrocities is just how democracy is supposed to work. When people act as though those leaders represent "the jews" and not their government, shit gets ugly.

Ok sorry, I misinterpreted the thrust of your thread. Just wanted to make the distinction.

In how I framed it, people with Jewish families to protect. Because as much as I hate the history of antisemitism, I think what Netanyahu is doing is making all jews everywhere far less safe, and I recoil at people who suggest the existence of antisemitism requires us to support Netanyahu's policies
comment in response to post
All of this can be true, and it can also be true that Netanyahu's government and policies are *inflaming and worsening antisemitism and making Jews (like my family) far less safe all over the world.* Antisemitism existing regardless is not a license for us to act as moral cretins on the world stage.

The point is they are fine with being attacked by people on the pro-fascist right, but they find the people on the pro-democracy left to be insufferable.

people will raise lincoln as an example of why it is important to compromise for the sake of electoral success and a future greater good, but do not forget that lincoln's willingness to compromise rested on a set of ironclad moral and political commitments.

I honestly can't believe that after 2021 there weren't a steady stream of ads showing former Trump supporters who died of Covid speaking directly to camera saying they regretted supporting Trump, encouraging others to get vax'd, followed by the date they died.

It eventually gets to an interesting place, but I also tapped out early. SPOILER: 3 of the billionaires decide they must kill the 4th to preserve the future of AI and it gets interesting for a bit, then resolves dumbly again.

Worth noting the #1 and #2 leaders in the Senate both privately considered Obama the safer choice in tough districts to the point they encouraged him to run. But they were exceptions.

Anthony Bourdain was the guy that everyone thinks Joe Rogan is: curious, truth seeking, and open to genuinely new ideas and cultural perspectives.

Yeah, the source material is at war with itself. On one hand it's a treatise on the evils of seeking revenge and the spiraling cycles of violence. But that is at war with the fact that it's a violent video game. So violence is, most of the time, the answer.

Someone reading these tweets would be shocked to learn that AOC and Bernie Sanders were the last two stalwarts fighting to preserve Biden as President, or the many very liberal things he accomplished as president on industrial policy, global warming, etc

Too much of the press seems interested in covering "the press beat" as opposed to "the national interest." For example, I don't think you can understand the pointed resentment behind Jake Tapper's book tour without recognizing it stems from anger over how press were treated over coverage, etc.

This is 100% true to the extent Trump has entirely tamed a political party that has achieved enough power he can act with a freer hand than any President in history. What Trump has not done is bring the non-MAGA American people along in support the way other leaders have. It's by and for his base.

One of the books on the 2020 cycle talked about Obama telling all aspirants they were welcome to come to him with questions, and being quietly disappointed the things they asked had so little depth. Kamala ran in 24 afraid to do friendly interviews. He can't possibly think that's ok.

I think, after the eclipse of the triumphalism of Trump from November > Tariffs but before any meaningful opposition has crystallized, most people opposed to the Trumpian consensus are just lashing out to protect the shards of civilization they cherish. Don't take offense and thanks for your work.

I've seen years of debate over this game and I've never heard anyone assert this is a story for Israel/Palestine. Where'd you come across this analysis?
