Procedurally this will make the the civil case moot and lead to its dismissal. Also this gets them around the question of whether they can get him back by asking. This was presumably an extradition request.

Maaaaybe? I’d have to see exactly what they charge this as. And what kind of evidence they have. This smells freshly cooked up. I think they’re hoping they can hold him retrial for a while and dismiss it when people’s attention has moved on.
