“Poor man wanna be rich. Rich man wanna be king. The king ain’t satisfied ‘til he rules everything.”—Springsteen, Badlands

For thrills, I chatted with ChatGPT about the ethics of a president accepting a gift of a jet from a foreign government. I never mentioned Trump and the Qataris; I just asked about the ethics, history, and likely outcomes of such a scenario. Worth reading. chatgpt.com/share/682210...

Our nation is led by ghouls, who were elected by 70+ million tiny fiends in ugly red hats.

Legacy media keeps pushing “young man have radicalized” narrative, to fit their equally wrong “the people have become more right-wing narrative. Real story is “radicalization” of young women… but, like their sisters in previous generations, they only live in shadows (negations) of their male peers.

Related to this: America's current crisis can probably be traced to the utter destruction of the idea that the humanities are higher education's foundation.

How is it possible that citizens would elect someone this dumb?

New in PN: Why the Wisconsin Supreme Court race is a big deal "Voters by now have demonstrated their ability to choose diarrhea forever over everyone gets a puppy, & to vote away their own rights and democracy. But the WI election is a chance to start turning the country away from authoritarianism"

This is the crux of it. Leaders *change* public opinion. Trump has *radically* changed public opinion. Democratic consultants who do focus groups aren’t who Democrats should be listening to—they should focus on leading the public and aggressively reshaping views of Trump.

This is an evergreen tweet for this era.

Wait...people really think Kendrick Lamar's performance was supposed to be patriotic? Please bring back liberal arts 😭😭😭

I remember watching Star Wars as a kid and asking myself, who would voluntarily join the dark side? I understood Darth Vader's motivation, but not the stormtrooper's.

An unelected billionaire is illegally seizing control of the US government apparatus and carrying out a flurry of crimes as part of an unprecedented authoritarian power grab that directly violates several laws and the US Constitution. Say it plainly. It’s fact.

@kellymorrisonmn.bsky.social

You can obey the Constitution or you can obey the Trump administration, but you can't do both. We need more voices, from more sectors, stating the problem in those terms. Anything less implies there's a compromise position or middle ground. There isn't. It's constitutional democracy or fascism.

There’s a lot of value in a humanities education, but being able to see through glib con men is a nice one.

Joe Biden is not transferring power to Donald Trump. He’s transferring it to you and Mr and everyone who still cares about democracy and who will do everything they can to keep it alive.

An underappreciated aspect of the Nazi rise is how quickly German *society* fell into line. In early March 1933, a majority of German voters voted against the Nazis. By late spring, pretty much the whole country backed them. How did that happen? Here's a little thread. (1/6)

As a genX Minnesota Vikings fan, I commend FoxNFL for playing Husker Du while heading to commercial after that Viking field goal.

I’ve written a lot about how we (product folks) love to talk about how our teams build things: releases and sprints and product operating systems... But some colleagues are deeply uninterested in what happens in the kitchen. A thought on reading the room (audiences) www.mironov.com/read-the-room/

We need a new opposition movement not only to resist Trump in the short term but to oppose MAGA and Trumpism for the long haul. I offer my take on the five key parts to build this new opposition. I hope you watch, learn and share. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bCh...

Yes to this. Too many in our weary world seem to think that the scientist and the artist are inherently at odds, and that to advance one domain we must diminish the other. That is not true, and never had been.
