Say it with me: Disabled people deserve to live even if they can’t work.

Instead of fact-checking Trump, any story featuring him should simply state "this man has told hundreds of lies every day of his public life; everything he says should be suspect; even the things he says that happen to be true should be considered either accidental or harboring suspicious motives."

Universal right to counsel is something we on the left need to talk about more. It's just as important as universal healthcare - just like you don't choose to need Healthcare, you don't choose to get arrested or face eviction or foreclosure or bankruptcy or a debt collector or get sued or divorced.

So much of the American mindset is "someone in a position of authority caused me harm, and I can't wait until I'm in a position of authority over someone so I can do the same to them"

It’s time to mask back up (N95 or better please!) Resistance is easier when you have your health. Coping with fascism, climate change, supply chain disruptions & food shortages will be easier if you have your health. Disabled people need your solidarity. Protect us & protect yourself. Mask up

Yes, millions of people will suffer but at least it's for a good cause: because one old asshole wanted to avoid going to jail for crimes he committed

Finishing my second article on masks in healthcare, and one thing is clear… we are failing our most vulnerable. Patients are being infected in the place they go to get care, by the people they trust to do no harm. We know how to prevent these infections & we aren’t even trying

Every single Democratic senator voted to confirm Marco Rubio.

This is why I don't buy the "everyone was misinformed by the far right ecosystem" unless we're willing to agree that everyone from The Times to msnbc is also far right ecosystem.

thank you stackoverflow user

I don’t have an opinion on this action but I do know that terminally online people who critique a given action w/o proposing some kind of alternative of where people should focus their energy do more harm than good. It’s cynical and dispiriting and it encourages people new to activism to disengage.

I love leaving voice mails for my senators where I say things like "the USPS is very important to our country" as if I'm helping a small child with a book report or describing our civilization to an alien

Pass. Instead of asking for more money from your constituents, for a future election, why don't you focus on actually stopping the fascist takeover currently happening, Democrats?

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

From a FOIA perspective, "the entire federal workforce should write down and email what they did last week" is extremely funny

regret to inform everyone this is a real guy who could be pope

Perhaps the social sciences, e.g., have a larger representation of those on the left not because something about them is inherently “biased,” but because the in-depth study of many of those topics leads one to some inescapable conclusions.

Saving money is only impressive if you can maintain quality at the same time. If I throw you out on the street and say "You're welcome, I just saved you a monthly rent payment" that's not really helpful

Just going to repeat that my initial covid infection was mild. I did not get acutely ill & have a long recovery. I got sick & kept getting sicker. It was six weeks until my neurological symptoms got bad, about 3 months for allergies & 5 months for cardiac issues.

I’m so tired of disabled people being left behind in almost every way. In education, in economics, in diversity, in equity, I could go on. With things shifting and society uprising, disabled people are usually the last to be thought of. I can’t tell you how traumatizing it is to be abandoned.
