Gorod, "We Are The Sun Gods"
Grant The Sun, "Death Is Real"
Mycorrhizae, "Dormant" / "Transverse Highways" (kinda sound the same)

I can be alone with my thoughts, too:
A Winged Victory For The Sullen | All Our Friends Are Vampires – More from Stars Of The Lid break-off/successors. Which is to say: beautiful and precise complex drone/neoclassical
Tim Hecker | No Highs – Melodic, haunting, noisy, similar to his mid-career stuff

Melodic stuff:
Loma Prieta | Last – Incredibly lush screamo
Sisters | Leecheater – Depressive heavy rock/shoegaze; reminiscent of early-half Failure
Cave In | Until Your Heart Stops – Worthy reissue of metalcore classic w/ totally wild demos/b-sides
Gridlink | Coronet Jupiter – Rapturous tech grind

More great hardcore:
Big Laugh | Consume Me – Disparate HC influences converging fluidly
Drip-Fed | Leap For The Fountain – More excellence that sounds like Fucked Up's much less pretentious cousin
Wreath | The Land Is Not An Idol Gods – Impactful, FFO Tragedy
80HD | Destabilize – Ridiculously fun

Gorod | The Orb – Fav technical death metal album. Strangely fun and catchy
Majesties | Vast Reaches Unclaimed – The ultimate tribute to golden years of Gothenberg death metal. Gorgeous

Mycorrhizae | The Great Filtration – Fast, catchy, no-filler black metal
Stress Positions | Harsh Reality – Best hardcore album I've heard in years
Grant The Sun | Voyage – Post-metal mishmash, some combo of Hum, Isis, Meshuggah
Jerome's Dream | The Gray In Between – Screamo way better than expected

For the first sentence there I thought I was reading a vintage David Simon tweet.

GLOSS were so good. I've given that Ashenspire some time but bounced off. How did you find it?

Oh man - if they’re new to you, check out Houses of the Unholy!! New one was a little disappointing for me, but they’re remain of my favorite Sabbath cover bands! 😝

How are you finding that new CoM?

It'd be a tidy mashup of his "Never draw what you can swipe" wit and "Is this all there is" despair

Theme for Tetsuo: The Bullet Man. Super-harsh noise, but extremely structured; I always think Trent and Atticus explored some of the ideas in the melodic undercurrents for The Social Network

Totally get it – it was a bummer for me to drop Taake. But Watain is especially easy to leave behind since there's tons of Really Great Stuff out there (as you already know!!)!! Past five years have been great to listeners like us!!

Solid resource for investigating deeper cuts (and also highlighting new antifash bands): www.reddit.com/r/rabm/ Navigability is tough as there are so many maxed out threads about "Is this band sketch?" But I've breathed many a sigh of relief thanks to this sub

I wouldn't worry about it too much! He's got Star Wars for the foreseeable, and he's also the latest director supposedly guiding Akira out of 20+ year development hell. He and Peele and other fan types seem eager to get the rights for IPs just to have 'em.
