The surest path to a major conflict is appeasement. It's attitudes like yours that led to WWII. Germany could have been stopped easily if his early aggression was met with force instead of cowardice and self interest.

Ukraine is its own independent country. Putin doesn't get to dictate Ukraine's foreign policy. He's the dictator of Russia, not Ukraine.
