Shame on you. Disgusting failure on every front - ethical, moral, professional, and journalistic. When trump has his goons raid your offices like Erdogan raided Zaman you will have earned it.

Time to call for collective nonviolent action on a massive scale. #NationalStrike

The man that assaulted Rand Paul received 8 months in prison. The state of California should charge every one of these goons tonight.

For those paying attention, press conferences are the generally accepted forum where people like the DHS Secretary answer questions. Sen. Padilla, for what it's worth, is the ranking member of the Judiciary subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, and Border Safety.

I'm there, too.

Asking males to refrain from violating female boundaries in certain situations where we are more vulnerable is not pushing anyone down. Women are not support animals responsible for validating identities assumed by a subset of males. The solution is to have female, male, & gender neutral facilities.

You didn't need to, pal. It's implicit in the demand to be allowed to verbally abuse parties who have nothing to do with the atrocious behavior of the men attacking the Senator.

Oh look, another man who thinks male violence by the other side justifies male violence on his side. How novel. (And by novel I mean completely expected and endlessly disappointing.)

This is a laughably disingenuous retort. Nowhere did I say all men are evil. You, however, are demanding that women pretend no men are evil, despite mountains of evidence and millenia of female experience that males pose a vastly greater threat to our safety than do females.

Abusers will always advocate for abuse of women. You are as dangerous as the violent men assaulting the Senator.

And by milk monitor you mean a domestic violence educator.

No. You sound like an abuser.

Leave the spouses out if it - there's a decent chance they already experience DV.

Here's another angle from Fox News reporter Bill Melugin of Sen. Alex Padilla getting roughed up by law enforcement after he tries to question Kristi Noem at her presser: ā€œI’m Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary. Because the fact of the matter is, a half dozen... Hands off!ā€

The argument "men who want to offend will do it anyway" misses the point of why we set up guardrails in the first place. Making it harder for bad actors to offend is entirely appropriate. TW are a subset of males & until males cease being a threat to us it is reasonable to maintain boundaries.

In South Carolina last year. Michell Silva Perez - a male who identified as a woman - was asked to leave a women's shelter (and was offered shelter at a nearby facility). Perez became irate & stabbed a female shelter employee with a sword, nearly killing her. Media referred to Perez as a woman.

To make matters worse, media now routinely lies about the sex of offenders, which obscures both public awareness & data collection. For example, Natalie Pershall was convicted of filming a coworker under a bathroom stall. Every outlet referred to Natalie as a woman despite being booked as male.

Please stop pretending that there is not an overwhelming problem with voyeuristic men in women's bathrooms. Of course not all TW are going to do this, but the self-ID fiasco rolls out the red carpet making it easier for any male to exploit women and girls in what should be a protected space.
