Gen 5 battle pace is also abysmal and I don’t think the sprite animations make up for it in anyway. Also I really don’t know what parts of gen 3 are this big slog. That’s a tight game with a brisk pace throughout.

I’m not arguing which game is better overall, just the ones that are more approachable for newcomers. DS games would be my last choice because the game pace is so slow.

I guess we just fundamentally disagree. Pokémon battles are already super slow by today’s standards and the DS games are a slog. I can’t even replay them unless I do it on an emulator with speed up. I personally think fast and simple is the best place to start for newcomers.

If you’re making it to the 6th gym ur already invested. Both RSE and FRLG are really lean games that don’t take super long. The battle pace is also much faster than the DS games. It’s a faster simpler way to jump into Pokemon when starting out. I think it’s the perfect starting point.

I doesn’t personally bother me. My mind just doesn’t retain spoilers for stuff I have no interest in. If I end up interest in a thing later on, I never remember what the spoilers were.

I don’t think it’s a masterpiece or anything like that, it’s got really high highs and low lows.
I am surprised it’s not selling well at all on Xbox tho. It’s a high profile game with mostly positive reception.

I think it’s probably the best Mario Kart ever but can’t compete with the nostalgia I have for the games I played when I was a kid. Wii, Double Dash, and DS will always be the best imo.
