He can be expelled. It won’t happen but holy shit it really should.

Yeah, that all sucks.

I agree - maybe this period will be what finally does that. We don’t know! Nobody does. I would prefer to have this conversation convinced we’ll still have meaningful elections in the future. But we may not!

Agree with all of that

This is going to backfire on them, bigly

I'll offer up a simple explanation! It's this stage of capitalism. Millions of people rightfully understand everything we've known is slipping away. People voted for the simplest solution, the guy who provided a scapegoat (immigrants) and said he'd fix it. Now

I agree! I’m just a progressive who thinks it’s occasionally fine to put aside the BIG STRUGGLE when it’s literally life or death in a particular election. You put out the most dangerous fire first, I guess.

I don’t wanna get dragged into a whole thing here but I don’t think I voted for a democrat for president until 2016 (greens, usually) specifically because the fascist threat of Trump winning was so obviously worse than standard neoliberal bullshit.

This is all 100% true, but it's a lot easier to change things for the better — which we were doing — if you don't have to also overcome a fascist dictatorship. Unless you subscribe to the theory that we have to hit rock bottom first. That may also be true. Nobody really knows, is the thing.

I don’t think any of that really matters. I think this probably is bound to happen over and over. Fat and happy societies (relatively speaking) probably just inevitably eat themselves.

It pains me to say this as a lifelong surfer and surf industry insider but you won’t meet a bigger group of self centered dipshits in your entire life.

I assume it was planted so it would scare people from attending the rallies

Why do they keep saying impersonating

You're not wrong, but, tbh, the only military I know are pretty much standard libs.

Remember, they hand picked soldiers who were pro-Trump. There are many thousands who are not. And they're the ones controlling the really big guns.

"They feared selling the merchandise could undermine the military's carefully maintained image of political neutrality, according to two officials familiar with the internal pushback." Too fuckin late, chodes.

the interesting thing about being in a military occupation is you kinda start fantasizing about relief coming from places you'd never expect

While there are a lot of truly awful MAGA people, so, so many of his voters are hurting and confused and just want a simple fix and I don't necessarily blame them. Frankly, we're prob pretty close to falling victim to the same thing when Newsom runs on some kind of lib grievance platform.

Interesting. Every neighbor I've ever had tries this shit on me, I firmly believe. #turnitdown
