Not a counterpoint, but I also think it’s the case that Republicans have built a grievance machine that punishes cultural views it doesn’t agree with, disproportionate to the representation of those views. Support gay rights? So do most Americans! But it can put your contracts (or more) at risk!

I agree, but on top of that, it's exhausting that people are still stuck in "I have to vote for someone I think is awful because other people will vote for him" mode

Not that it's a bad idea, but it feels shortsighted: it works, until the Supreme Court says it won't. Which they would.

.. they are able to rationalize it to consumers, be they collectors or players. Especially since the overwhelming majority of people - even if they're "strictly" players - feel bad when they buy a card (as a single or from a pack) and it's worth significantly less later on.

This is a pretty broad subject, and one thing I can't help but think about is how Secret Lairs changed from print-to-order to limited runs. MTG has always had a collectible angle, but it feels more and more like Hasbro is cranking the "more money" dial to 11, and the symptoms you list are how...

Along these lines, Sneakers should get an honorable mention I know it came out in 1992, but it's a 2000s movie. So I'll settle for honorable mention.

I watched Ocean's Eleven again recently with friends; it's such a perfect movie. It's a vibes movie, but it works! Clooney and Pitt ooze charm, Mac and Gould are hysterical, and there are some gorgeous and smart shots (ride along at the beginning, casino demolition). Love a clever heist movie.

“Habla con Ella”, which depicts the rape of a coma patient I later learned she went out with me to get back at her cheating boyfriend 🤷‍♂️

(I strongly suspect hoping for a resignation is an insane pipe dream, but it would be nice if someone at least said "Hey, can we ask our lawyers about this?"... even if Trump purged/replaced both the lawyers and the commanders earlier this year) If the low bar is "skepticism", did they clear that?

... speak on, I'll simply say that I hope we learn more about the details of how this process played out behind the scenes. It's still early, we know virtually nothing. But the bar is so low that I hope the Air Force was at least more skeptical than Hakeem Jeffries and the House. The bar is in hell.

(Really, I had somehow accumulated too much Fireball and was averse to pouring it down a drain, for some reason)

I’ve probably mentioned the board game I made for my party for the anniversary of the Battle of Bladensburg, right? I lost most of the rules, but still have some random character sheets (Yes, I’m aware of the pronunciation..)

One of my biggest frustrations from a previous workplace was repeatedly them repeatedly treat calling out dick behavior as a worse sin than acting like a dick. And to a later point, I often tried to translate between two (male) coworkers arguing the same point; I frequently couldn't get a word in.

.. needed for entry sure could find themselves looking down the barrel of a gun, especially since I suspect they'd want to keep this sort of debate away from the courts (plus: they're fascists).

I genuinely don't mean to be pedantic, but my assumption was that things like locks are doing most of the heavy lifting for the moment. Like, I'm sure a few members would be willing to try ignoring DHS personnel, except that it wouldn't help if they can't get in. That said, one bringing tools..

Me @ last gig: "What S is proposing we absolutely should not do, we should do it a different way instead" Boss: "You're twisting his words, that's not what S is proposing, no one would ever propose something so insanely braindead" S: "Actually, it's exactly what I was proposing"

I think more people protesting makes unpopular government actions less tenable. When so many people are protesting - and continuing to protest - and the government doesn’t change course, it makes even less-informed people ask why. Continuing in the face of huge protest radicalizes people: it should.

Yeah I'm getting the fuck out of town (I live two blocks from the Mall). Going to protest in Annapolis this weekend (with my mom!)
