I’m re-reading The Magic Mountain for the first time, and had forgotten about the scene where Hans Castorp, on just his second day at the sanatorium, overhears the married couple next door fucking and is embarrassed.

In the event you would like to hear me talk.

I got onions on my sub today because the guy behind the counter said ‘is that all?’ in a disappointed tone after I said ‘just tomatoes and Swiss cheese’ and I’ve just about picked them all off now.

A reminder that I made a video specifically for starving writers about how to change your oil yourself and stop getting fleeced by Jiffy Lube youtu.be/OaViQmxsj1M?...

Just changed the car’s oil, in the shade, in the morning, and almost died. This planet is cooking.

Honestly there’s so much I feel about this book. In a time where I’ve felt my own attention span suffering, it’s been a reminder that nothing will ever touch a great book for me.

She’s so sweet (also she demanded to go outside at 2 AM last night)

I wrote a Gen Z version of ‘2001’

Sad to see respected poets and writers jumping on the AI bandwagon because they think it’s inevitable. It can’t do half of what they claim. You’re *making* it inevitable by complying in advance for no reason.

Friday is a great day to grab a copy of Boxcutters, filled with stories about the horrors of life (Amazon, customer service, politics) & the life of horrors (dinosaur ghosts, Hercules, wax mannequins). Not everyone’s cup of tea, but for those who like it, it’s got a great aftertaste 🍻 Link below!

My favorite thing is browsing through documentaries and finding titles like ‘Stepping Into the Light’ or ‘On the Shoulder of Titans’ and then you find out it’s about how some guy figured out a better way to make screen doors.

Just got an amazing email: I’m a finalist for the World’s Best Writer Award! Just got a follow-up email, didn’t win. Good to be a finalist tho. Just got another email, apparently the first one was a mistake and I was never a finalist. Just got another email, confirming the last one.

I’ve got friends casually using AI for everything, including safety things like replacing wheel studs. AI was right in this case, but there are pro mechanics on YouTube with all the actual answers. It’s too hard to watch a 6-minute video now.

Here’s a brilliant, brutal takedown we can all get behind, because you probably don’t know this guy, and trust me he deserved it. www.wsc.co.uk/the-archive/... No love, no joy | When Saturday Comes

Small complaint. It is physically hard to read my timeline this morning because multiple people have reskeeted each individual skeet of a long thread. And it’s by someone I already follow. So I’m seeing the same (important) thread ad infinitum.

Just wanna say you’re amazing and you got this, tho objectively the second part probably isn’t true.
