I’m not sure this holds up even in the region when you consider how the US treated partners like the Kurds or other regional forces. America loves to toss folks in the trash whenever they feel like it.

I get the sense that a lot of people see protesting as cringe because they don't understand what it accomplishes, and I get that... to them, I say: just go. Experience what it feels like to be part of a Very Large Crowd of your fellow citizens. That feeling has radical political implications.

I find it helpful when people’s first reaction to a discussion of a city, especially one like nyc where crime is way down, is to mention crime. It means I immediately know that they are an unserious person.

If you want a certain kind of grassroots resistance to Trumpism, what you do is encourage and participate in that kind of resistance. What you don't do is sit on your hands until people come up with something without you, and then say "no, not that."
