It was a calcium supplement before we learned about the lead issues. Also mad cow disease. Bone meal was added in 19th century (among many things) to bread, it makes the product whiter and improves texture (also, saved money to scummy bakers)

Newsrooms laying of staff means typically financial/organizational problems that hurt the media reputation. Claiming it's because of AI is a positive spin on that. Not saying that's what's happening but it's an obvious motivation to make that claim!

For those wondering - it was because dog food had high content of bone meal (since it's very cheap) but we found out later it's actually not that great for various reasons.

These people don't think of themselves as eugenicists despite doing "eugenics by proxy", targeting signifiers such as race, class, location. Their brains shield them from facing what they are by not allowing them to think about their actions one step further, realizing what monsters they are.
