I love supernatural and creature feature horror, but when it comes to torture and prolonged human suffering, especially if it's based on real events, that's too negative for me to consider 'entertainment'. Even if it brings attention to real issues, the question is if it's doing it constructively.

The most horrifying thing about this bluray was the bonus trailers, one of which was about the infamous WW2 Japanese Unit 731 experimental torture division. That trailer was mortifying and I need brain bleach after seeing it. I can't imagine watching the full movie. And it's a 4-film series! Wtf?! 😱

You're only the second person to actually remember to move her little tail ornaments to adjust for gravity. I'm very pleased about that attention to detail ^_^

One thing that was amusing was the amount of money Shane (this film’s version of Sam Spade) was getting paid by various patrons. Accounting for inflation, he was making $5k - $115k or more. Insane amounts of money, just to do detective work… during the Depression! How rich were these clients?!?!

I can't help but think that people who were disappointed with the Lilo & Stitch remake would greatly enjoy this movie. There are elements of the Communiverse and the villains that felt like they were plucked right out of the Stitch-verse.

Same, and I gotta say the marketing is not doing it justice. I saw the trailer and thought 'this looks very kiddy', but it's really not. They have straight up horror stuff in this, and a lot of clever humour. It's essentially the Lilo & Stitch movie people wanted.

I also absolutely loved Glordon. I never would've expected to find a space slug to be my favourite character in a movie lmao
Also shoutout to the Zoidberg-faced lady ambassador. I fully expect you lot to R34 her. 🦞

Elio was great! Really funny, with relatable characters and themes. Beautiful visuals, too. They used techniques to emulate real film cameras for this one, and it shows. Has a really classic cinematic look, especially in the more horror-tinged scenes. One of the better Pixar films in recent years 🛸

Ehhh this had potential but really bad pacing and some awful acting from a few of the older actors really hurt this one. The premise is good, but the film seemingly ‘ends’ and then continues about three times. This needed way more time in the editing room.

I like to think that our art, characters, and their little stories bring people joy in these rough times, and keeps their heads just a little bit more above water. It doesn't seem like much, but I think this is our part in trying to help out and spread good vibes, and it helps more than we know.

Seeing far leftists shrug when T and the GOP do heinous stuff, but then lose their shit if a Dem makes a tiny mistake or whatnot, is just annoying as hell. To see them immediately blame Harris when T just technically started a war is like 'stfu, you weren't helping before and you're not helping now'

Yeah, I expect his base to be upset and divided until he tells them to fall in line and then they'll obediently do so.
Part of the reason why people like him get into power is that the right is unified in their disdain for others. The left is more of a coalition, and the far left hate everyone lol

But even then, he would have narrowly lost. It shows how broken and brainwashed this country is.
Also, the people like the furry YouTuber I mentioned are the ones who really piss me off because they spend all their time attacking the left, then the left loses, and they act morally superior. Idiots.

TBH, I really don’t think he fairly won. He (and Elon to a degree) has already blurted out multiple times that they did something to change the original outcome. The question is if we’ll find out how, and if anything will be done about it. I don’t have much faith in establishment Dems to push that.

All that said, it’s gotta wake some people up that T ranted endlessly about Biden/Harris being warhawks while he was a dove, and then not even 6 months into his second term, he illegally and unilaterally initiated bombing a foreign country.
The press will eat it up, but the average person won’t.

Lol, yeah I dunno if it’s just emotional burn out from his first term or if I’m just more even-handed about this stuff, but I’m kinda looking at it from a bigger POV and seeing how this was telegraphed, nobody in the region wants to (or can) do a ground invasion, and Iran is very weakened already.
