The rich surround themselves with sycophants who dare not criticize and exist only to fulfill their every whim. In such isolation, their empathy withers and dies. They’re not even capable of enjoying the ruling-class lifestyle their servants are wrecking the planet to bring to them.

Trump believes his gambit will be successful because, as he and his subordinates blanket the airwaves with lies and slurs about Mamdani, they're sure corporate media will dutifully pretend lies or slurs can be newsworthy and repeat them. But corporate media—if it wants to survive—must hold the line.

Donald Trump wants to make Mamdani the face of the Democratic Party.
That's fine; he's allowed to try that gambit (even if there's no sense in which its central claim is true).
But what journalism can't do is republish lies or slurs about Mamdani as a means of helping Trump advance his viewpoint.
