I cant wait until there’s real competition with NVIDIA for ML development. ROCm could do it if AMD would put any real effort behind it. The current near monopoly with NVIDIA for realistically all AI seems incredibly dangerous.

It seems like there’s a lot of talk about an AI “arms race” between nations, especially recently with Stargate and DeepSeek. The more important distinction is closed source and open source, and the actual moat of closed sourced models. I’m personally excited to see how we can push open source AI

DeepSeek R1-zero is insane. Really good at reasoning and the least censored LLM I’ve used. The fact that it’s trained via purely with reinforcement learning is super interesting too, countering the assumption that reasoning requires chain of thought

Is there any "branding" yet around what LLMs have done to web application development? I'm less interested in the "AI changes everything!" rhetoric, and more in the "cacheing has moved from x to y; delegated auth is harder because z; scaling and load balancing needs new patterns a, b and c".

From my limited understanding of AT protocol vs ActivityPub - AT protocol will allow me to transfer my account, including existing followers and follows, posts, etc. while ActivityPub essentially forces me to create a new account (I save my follows but lose followers). Is that right?
