You said we didn’t exist, I prove that we do. But feel free to mansplain to me what women think, what feminism means, what my politics involves. And then marvel at why women don’t appreciate any of this, any more.

You’ve met one today. You just didn’t bother to listen to her.

It’s just not, sorry. I do not know a single left-wing woman who is not gender critical. Labelling everyone who thinks that women deserve fairness in sport, safety in prisons etc a right wing bigot is simply BS.
comment in response to

Honestly, it’s because of a desire for equality and fairness that many women - across the political spectrum - feel strongly about this issue. Equating this with right wing politics is disingenuous and spectacularly misses the point.

Feminism is, by definition, concerned with women’s causes. Where these come into conflict with ‘progressive’ issues, women have taken notice and pushed back - as is evidenced in the survey.

‘The only question on which women now take the permissive view on transgender rights is saying that people should be able to change their gender socially, although at 55% this still represents an eight point drop since the 2022 survey.’
It’s hardly a tiny minority. And on 1 question, out of many.

That’s a very creative interpretation of the statistics in your linked article.

So, money then.

How lazy are people becoming? Just drive, it’s really not hard. Why the obsession with driverless cars?

Jeremy Corbyn held the door open for the ruinous Brexit which this country is suffering from. Whatever agenda he might have had, he lost the election and his decision not to oppose Brexit in any form has had serious repercussions for the people of this country.

Taking the first on your list - universal credit. Do you know how much / little people need to be earning before they are entitled to that? Because it’s less than half the cut off for pensioners receiving WFA - £16,000. And that amount includes savings.

It’s of no interest to me how much Lewis Goodall earns, and I’m not aware of him trying to sell anything, snake oil or otherwise. But his political commentary on this subject is spot-on.
comment in response to

Furthermore the entire point of the piece - which is well worth reading beyond the headline - is that the state is not supporting everyone, only pensioners.

It’s a pun about older people, surely? Ie like Nana / Grandma.

Agreed. Especially given Biles has the luxury of representing one of the few women’s sports in which a male-bodied competitor would not have an inherent physical advantage.

Those replies are standard fare when it comes to this subject, honestly. Hence my original response to your original question on this thread.
Ps As a side note, it’s a shame that #blueskymoderators never take action against this type of hatred. It doesn’t bode well for the future of this site.

Really? Because this is what often happens when women suggest that maybe we might be allowed to retain our own rights and spaces.

Way to miss the point. Read the judgement, try to listen to the arguments with an open mind. It’s never been about anyone’s ‘existence’. Your mask has slipped, muting this now.

Thanks for proving my point so beautifully x

Single sex spaces, sports, healthcare provision. It’s literally the reason the case was taken to the Supreme Court.

Yep, as can many women.

I know there’s a funny side to this all but… The absolute state of American politics blows my mind.

Agree. ‘pertaining’ was the giveaway for me!

So that leaves around 400 Labour MPs who aren’t?
comment in response to

Please, read the article before you make decisions about future votes. It’s not Labour policy, it’s the suggestion of a small pressure group called ‘Blue Labour’. Which as the name suggests is indeed more aligned with the Tories.

Blocked, wow. Those echo chambers won’t build themselves I suppose.

Happily, people don’t cease to exist if they are asked to compete in a different boxing classification.

I think it’s the only way to go. And it’s infinitely more accurate than passports, which the IOC has been using previously.

Fair enough. That’s my other frustration with this site - wild blocking sprees make it impossible to follow conversations. Here you go (my answer to their post clarifies your last q too).
comment in response to

The problem is that too many people don’t connect the dots - or read articles before getting incensed - and then make wild accusations about bigotry / perceived injustices which turns social media into a hell hole. What is proposed is actually very simple, fair and will protect women’s sports.
comment in response to

I’ve been accused of bigotry about 5 comments up from your one.

Not gender, sex. Sports are not separated by gender. And sex is recognisable in every cell, so it’s pretty simple to test and separate accordingly.
comment in response to
post
*everyone* is being asked to test. Which seems fair, no? If people are going to be fighting in a boxing ring, in a fight segregated by sex, it’s best to ensure those sex categories are adhered to isn’t it? Or should we also ban scales for weighing fighters in case that’s ’bigoted’ too?

Happily everyone is confused by your comment.

You seem determined to steer this towards trans rights, and I’m not interested in having that conversation. Khalif is not trans. If Khalif is biologically female they have every right to be in the boxing ring fighting women. If they aren’t they do not. Testing will conclude this matter. The end.
comment in response to

As someone who has given birth to three babies, I can assure you that no one chose to assign a sex at birth. There were no options. Sex was observed and recorded accordingly. And testing chromosomes is about as robust a measure of biological sex as exists. So I call BS I’m afraid, on both counts.
comment in response to

Those doubts, if not immediately apparent, would be obvious by the time of puberty. A simple, one-off cheek swab will stop all this and ensure fairness for all in future.
Otherwise, why have women’s sports at all?
