Hadrian's Wall scholars! The below is a quotation found by @halduncan.com, from a translation of Hector Boece's Historia Gentis Scotorum, published 1527, in which he asserts, long before John Hodgson, that the wall in the north was Hadrian's, not Severus'.

It really seems like the best way to get seeds to germinate is to decide (WEEKS LATER) that they are not going to, and put a more successful seedling in the same pot.

You always wonder if it's a bit gimmicky promoting literal children into a cricket team, but Grace Thompson does look the real deal - she's been great in the field as well as her bowling so far this season, and had some really mature lower-order batting. A great find for Durham!

Sometimes I think that posting a list of my publications on my office door (or in all pigeonholes) would not be the worst idea in the world. Permanent academics, it's polite to have a sense of what your temporary colleagues *actually* do, not just what they are doing for you!

Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your resume? Premodern Gender Historian: Almost all surviving sources about that period are from elite men. I certainly was doing work then but it was not considered important or relevant by the chroniclers or may have been in perishable foods or textiles.
