I should have gone back up to Manc today to see them again.

This is how I felt all yesterday

Moved on to our favourite. Bilbao vibes on Surrey Street.

Touring the scenic beer gardens of central Croydon

I will argue that this is better than gazpacho

Happy Summer Solstice 🌞 While the druids and Instagrammers head for Stonehenge, you’ll find us in…Milton Keynes! The astrologically inclined post-war new town has was reputedly designed “under a fog of marijuana smoke and Pink Floyd records”.

Only acceptable food in this weather.

In Croydon 's tropical beer garden

Me too. Like being on holiday. Walking home from a gig or the pub on a balmy light evening is my favourite.

One thing you learn quickly as a UCU branch officer is not to take annual leave this time of year. Our busiest time....

John Black, chair of the Housing Committee, was, in his own words, ‘not an idealist’ – his interest was ‘in seeking to achieve results, not some theory of government’. How the North Hull Estate became the country's first Housing Action Trust: municipaldreams.substack.com/p/the-north-...

Today is the first day since Monday that I feel well.

Chaldon church is not too far from here. Good time to sit in it and contemplate the flames of Hell.

The only thing to make in this heat for midsummer

I really really hope the safeguards and guardrails are good, because unless palliative care and financial support for end of life improves drastically, lots of people are going to find themselves making an unenviable choice.

Slightly concerned that history article abstracts read like they're AI generated summaries.

Have I told you how much I love seeing Sparks live?

Pure, genuine, absolute, bounteous, joy. We love you Ron and Russell.

There is nothing more joyful than watching Number One Song in Heaven segue into This Town. Or singing along to When Do I Get to Sing My Way. I am so glad and privileged to have experienced them do this several times.

Sparks are the best live band by far, and Russell is the greatest frontman. Such a great set this tour, full of the hits. The studio 54 style lighting was super. I love them so much.
