Wow: after 15 years, YouTube has taken down the original 'Rick Roll' video due to a "licensing issue," likely due to the acquisition of Astley's record lable. The metadata remains, but if you click through it goes to 'video not found': www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4...

So I was always told by MSFT folks that I shouldn't assign to malice things that can be explained by incompetence... Can someone tell me which one of those happened yesterday? Thanks!

None of them are special

So workers are supposed to left politics behind before coming to job, while executives can just do it during keynotes of biggest conferences. I'm glad there's equality here... oh wait.

My reason to be renewed as an MVP was always "My daughter is proud of me receiving an award". I think you can skip this argument after todays appearances at #msbuild conference.

I wonder how all my... social-aware friends at MSFT feel about Elmo being part of MSBuild keynote? Should I ping y'all here? :>

Absolutely pathetic.

Today, we're announcing plans to make VS Code an open source AI editor. We believe AI development should stay true to VS Code's core principles: open, collaborative, and community-driven. Let's build the future of software development together. aka.ms/open-source-...

I am genuinely stunlocked that they brought him into this conf. Just shows a complete misunderstanding of who MSFT customers are. The largest geographical share of MSFT dev tools are in Europe, where most of that world runs on .NET. He is *hated* over there now, and for good reason.

Come join me over by the Lego MS Logo at #msbuild to chat about AI-assisted .NET upgrades and modernization!

Some of my projects there 😂😏 And some more from @githubnext.com

Man, I love Eurovision

Hey #dotnet - I'm headed to #MSBuild this year! I'll be there all week talking about AI-Assisted modernization, but I'd love to talk with you about the .NET SDK and CLI, MSBuild, or other fundamentals as well! Looking forward to seeing everybody!

Anyone from #fsharp community going to be at Lambda Days in Krakow? I still haven't got the ticket, but given I was at 10 previous editions, I guess I should go...

I kinda find it fascinating when conference has a choice of "dude who co-created Copilot" vs "random MVP selling useless MSFT library for doing AI" picks latter :>

The registration for @programming-conf.bsky.social is still open. Just sayin'...

So many tenured and principal-level folks hit in the Microsoft layoffs. It was intentional that they targeted the “expensive” people. A friend recently hit 25 years, got the reward, and was now laid off. Such an unbelievable amount of institutional knowledge now gone and not coming back.

Last minute arrangements for @programming-conf.bsky.social - visiting the Old Town Hall where the Welcome reception on Monday will be!

My heart goes out to anyone who was let go today ❤️ A lay off (or even a performance-based firing) isn’t a statement about you as a person or your character. YOU ARE NOT YOUR WORK. DM‘s are open, happy to chat.

😢

Rewatch @horusiath.bsky.social's #BOBkonf2025 talk "Service-less communication: is it possible?" here: bobkonf.de/2025/sypytko...

Thunderbolts* were actually really fun, kinda surprising for MCU nowadays 🙃

Happy Labour Day 🌹

I’m giving a TED talk tomorrow. Surreal experience but an interesting one. www.tedxportland.com/year/13 I believe it’ll be live streamed as well. Adulting is crazy sometimes.

4 years at @githubnext.com - changing software development one day at the time… How time flies! Hopefully I’ll be around for few more years ;-)

👉🏻 “OpenAI wants to buy Chrome and make it an “AI-first” experience” 🔗 arstechnica.com/ai/2025/04/c... With Google possibly forced to sell Chrome, this would be a scary outlook. The web is so much more than just asking an LLM things and Chrome is the de-facto standard.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Happy Easter

I love how r/dotnet talks about .NET as a language. Obviously experts talking about what they know best, eh?

🚀 We shipped a few updates last week: 1. The Tags page has new view and sort options. 2. The command menu now includes contextual note actions if viewing a note page. 3. Clicking "New note" while viewing a list filtered by tag will prefill your new note with that tag. Thanks to Zakher Masri! ❤️

I've built Ionide 10 years ago, Saturn 7 years ago, and Copilot 4 years ago... have I already peaked? :-(

It's kinda amazing that Ionide is over 10 years old, eh... #fsharp

It’s been like almost 15 years since I’ve dropped out of the uni and I finally feel that I’m at level of experience and knowledge where I could be prepared to use time at university well… Probably tells more about me than anything else, tho

Coding challenges always gave no signal for hiring. One of the most pointless "inventions" of IT hiring system.

OpenAI thinking about acquiring Windsurf for whatever billion dollars makes me wishing I was less ethical person

Kinda miss the times when OpenAI was a research company not a wanna-be product company

4Chan was hacked, its source code was leaked, admin emails were leaked, AND a lot of registered users used their real names and .edu email addresses. Lotta CHUDs getting exposed to sunlight today.
