This has to happen to check the plagiarism engines.

The idea that people other than yuppies might enjoy the lifestyle that comes with high density is lost on them.

Most public libraries and the systems that support them have some sort of electronic content system.

Looking at you venture capital. All they do is enshittify.

It is hard to fire the politicians who have been elected.

This was a foregone conclusion. You can only alienate a huge number of people and stubbornly stick to a questionable strategy when you win.

We know what we did.

It's only been around since the Magna Carta. It takes a while for ideas to circulate.

Even their ambassadors are misinformed fools.

They may not believe in anthropogenic climate change, but their insurers do.

It's everything. You would need a military, a hugely enlarged bureaucracy, border control, provincial policing, and so much more. Even the realistic chance of separation will create a labour crisis in basically every industry as many Albertans will opt to leave while other Canadians will stay away.
comment in response to post
I wouldn't assume that. This is *often* pushed by those without much labour mobility.

They are the worst. They've also almost never thought the process through beyond their own immediate grievances.

It's a challenge to find a landlocked country with a resource based economy that's prosperous and free. Many of them are in or trying to enter into the EU. It's foolish to think we will a rare exception, especially when our neighbours would be a country we just scorned and a dysfunctional giant

That's my vibe. I travel in a left-leaning circle, though.

A pundit I cannot currently recall once said that Smith's bullshit detector is broken. After reading her columns, listening to her radio show, and now watching her govern, that comment seems very accurate. She's obviously going to be susceptible to outside manipulation.

That's an automatic blackball, Danielle. Enjoy Montana.

*unsuccessful

It's also a huge risk that a lot of institutions are not going to be willing to shoulder. We're talking about business travel, conferences, symposiums, and so on. The darkest timeline is when the world stops coming and Americans stop leaving for fear of a successful return.

Exactly. So many travelers expect to coast through because of who they are, but this narrative is starting to crumble. States spending big money on campaigns to win back foreign travelers are kind of pissing it away until these massive concerns are addressed.

This is outrageous. If this becomes the norm at border Crossings, the world will stay away, and their tourism industry will wither away.

Too many people think LLMs are doing a rational assessment behind the scenes. That's not how they work. Even if that's how they functioned, it would still be irresponsible to use them to make political decisions. A computer cannot be held accountable.

Oh, man. This is tough. Edward selling out his family for Turkish Delight was some bullshit.

I think it's more whether the Liberals want the reputation hit of facilitating a floor crossing. They would have a majority at that point, so it would probably be a long time before another election.

It's always about vibes with them.

GSWs are basically praying that Steph and/or Jimmy go off while they somehow avoid getting destroyed on the boards. I would want to play them.

It's a massive stretch to say domestic film production is somehow a matter of national security. Not that the feckless cowards in Congress will do anything about this, though.
comment in response to post
It sounds like he cares about where they are filmed. What about films that are shot in American and elsewhere? This feels so difficult to enforce in a rational way.
comment in response to post
This is two seconds of thought from a complete layman. Trump is so reckless.
comment in response to post
Yikes. How does this even work? Do producers have to account for every second of screen time filmed or otherwise produced outside of America? Do the theatres pay the appropriate tax and then pass it through to their audience? How does this work with streaming?
comment in response to post
We should have done that.

Most prosperous places owe their fortunes somewhat to luck. It still took tremendous ingenuity, effort, and daring to capitalize on that good fortune. The problem is that too many Albertans forget the contributions of the federal government and other Canadians to that endeavour.

I cannot see Kenney being acceptable to the CPC membership. He was pushed out of the UCP by the very people who will try to block him in this endeavor.

What's even in this for the Liberals? Just a weird move all around.

I'm begging these tech bros to learn about social network theory. The loneliness epidemic will not be solved by chatbots when the real problem is a scarcity of bonds between flesh and blood people and the comfort and opportunities that come with them. Goddamn.

Some have fallen victim to the outrage du jour spinners. Regardless of the particular grievance, real or perceived, it's important to try to understand why there are pockets of fertile ground, particularly in the West, for these seeds to grow.
