It wouldn’t do any harm. Assuming a writing sample is requested for all applications these will be used for the purposes of shortlisting (if at all). They will read more of your work if invited to interview, so it’s really about getting over that hurdle. You might even send both.

That’s a tough one. You might want to ask the panel which they would prefer, and make clear in the cover letter that the other paper exists, or what your contribution was. They will want your best work, so if you’ve something single-authored that you think is better I’d go with that even if the…
