ok I feel completely insane asking this but like weren't we NOT blowing up rockets, like, 50 years ago. weren't we successfully sending rockets up that did not rattle apart. also weren't we like "ah yeah that was a fail" when the rocket fell apart instead of calling it a "partial success"

The New York Times is giving a murder their “both-sides” treatment. What the hell is the matter with you?!? Someone kills a person with their car, and your reaction is to be like, “Some people think murder is bad, but others don’t like bike lanes, so 🤷‍♂️.”

My other popular opinion is that in-app purchases fucked mobile gaming. Yes, there are exceptions; I know them. But the whole “our game gets unplayable after a point unless you buy coins” thing just means that games are no longer fun and developers aren’t trying to balance playability any longer.

Ha ha anyone recognize my picture from 2017? It’s quite the compliment that so many have it as their pinned post It really worked for me cause I do believe in Magick ✨💥✨

Well they say a picture is worth a thousand words, this is spot on. Do not obey in advance!

Morning book rec: Gabriele, M. and Perry, D. M. (2021) The bright ages: A new history of Medieval Europe. New York: HarperCollins. The book by @lollardfish.bsky.social and @profgabriele.com has one of the most beautiful beginnings. Highly recommended history pub, greatly enjoyable. #MedievalSky

👋 We’re Indivisible, and we build the local power that will block Trump’s agenda.

Release the yeongno across America.

Do you ever look around and think about how everything you see will someday be ruins? I do. It’s oddly comforting, in a pale blue dot kind of way

They're not pro technology so much as they're pro endless growth which is why they were hocking crypto and now AI that nobody wants.

I just leave this here.....

Bluesky is truly having an incredible run as Threads' head of product

Undocumented workers pay nearly $100B year in state and federal taxes, including: "$25.7 billion in Social Security taxes, $6.4 billion in Medicare taxes, and $1.8 billion in unemployment insurance taxes in 2022." Amount of services received for the payroll taxes paid? 0 itep.org/undocumented...

You wanna know how to actually do this? Do things in house! The American process of subcontracting every choice is why it costs so much to build anything here!

We’re again urging the Second Circuit to require a warrant for border searches of electronic devices, an argument we’ve been making in the courts and Congress for nearly a decade.

The New York Times came out with their own version of this article today, so read mine instead

I run a Meetup group with four friends and with one month's notice they are doubling their fees so they can offer AI recommendations and oh boy I hate it. The decision is not entirely up to me but I personally can't see how they can justify this

Did you know BlueSky only has 20 employees? We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to those 20 warriors (who are working 24/7 to keep up with the incredible growth) for giving us a space to share. We escaped hell to be here. Thank you, @bsky.app & Jay Graber CEO (not a billionaire)

Books. When buying books for gifts this holiday season, please don't buy from Amazon. Please shop at your local independent bookstore/bookseller. Ask for recommendations. If they don't have a particular book in stock, ask them to order it. Support creatives, local businesses, and your community.

You wanted starter packs to be searchable. Our engineers are busy keeping us online, so in the meantime, an independent developer built a new searchable library of starter packs. This is the beauty of building in the open 🦋

Brief update on our ongoing efforts to allow users to specify consent (or not) for AI training: 🧵

chill advice for people getting into digital security for the first time, before downloading anything or getting hung-up on what devices you need or getting lost in long lists of do's-and-don'ts... did you do a risk assessment first? here's how to do that (a guide for journos but useful for many!)

“Elon Musk admitted to his biographer that the reason the Hyperloop was announced—even though he had no intention of pursuing it—was to try to disrupt the California high-speed rail project to get in the way of that actually succeeding.” — @parismarx.com in @gizmodo.com gizmodo.com/silicon-vall...

Patagonia truly is wilderness untamed! Furious winds transform the turquoise waters of lago Pehoe into a raging sea, blowing crashing waves side ways & literally lifting the water off the surface! #bluesky #photography #landscape #sunrise #nature #mountains #landscapephotography #naturephotography

I keep thinking back to how I can capture my humanness. We are so brainwashed by “achievement” and “purpose”

Incredible how the narrative changes as soon as the election is over
