"The engagement of the probity adviser was through a process that lacked probity" Not even past the ANAO's executive summary yet 👀 @squigglyrick.bsky.social

That some #NDIS participants are functioning well is not an indication of NDIS failings. They aren't fakers. Money isn't being wasted. It means the opposite - the NDIS is doing its job to support disabled people to live their best lives. Remove supports and they'll return to poor functioning.

My endometriosis surgery was delayed by 7yrs due to autism barriers inc trying to negotiate EDS precautions for surgery when it became the likely suspect & was finally diagnosed. Multiple appts w/fourth surgeon + EDS-literate anaesthetist for safety plan. Verdict: Endo. Aus docs, catch up please.

It took me more than three decades to be correctly diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. It took me a week after diagnosis to realise the vast majority of medical practitioners had no idea what that meant

Consultation on the final #NDIS Supports rule is open. Missing: 1. An exposure draft of the proposed instrument 2. Questions about ALL issues of concern, including the lack of true discretion 3. Any evidence whatsoever that s10 requires lists and not principles #Auspol @criprights.bsky.social

The final s10 #NDIS Supports rule consultation opens tomorrow. 🤷‍♀️ I'm just a participant. 😫 Surrounded by endless (expensive) new barriers to meaningful outcomes. 🙏 Virtually standing in front of her new Ministers. 💕 Asking them to love the idea of a rule truly grounded in the #CRPD. #Auspol

The NDIA officer who denied me access based her decision on somebody else's medical reports accidentally placed on my file. Then she stated that just because my doctors say I'm 'unable' to do things, it doesn't mean I 'can't' do those things. She argued that those words don't mean the same thing.

Good to see people calling out @albomp.bsky.social's government. “Being cooperative & playing nice with Labor isn’t getting us anywhere...They offer sympathy & then just go & approve massive fossil fuel projects anyway.” - Serena Joyner www.theguardian.com/environment/... by @lisacox.bsky.social

I take exception to the NDIA using co-design as a shield against criticism of the harms people like me are continually turning their minds to. "What [participants] are describing is hostility and neglect and distress... they feel punished for trying to live an ordinary life." #Auspol #NDIS

What is going on? Still no mention anywhere by @australia.theguardian.com, who have failed to report this entirely despite their prior award-winning welfare rights coverage. This is news. Parliament isn't back for at least a month! Get your fucking shit together.

I'm surprised and disappointed that this is yet to be reported by @australia.theguardian.com or @crikey.com.au or any other outlet. I've singled out these two for their previous quality coverage of Robodebt and other scandals in the welfare system. This single decision may prove just as significant.

🚨 This is massive news. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to hear it. While they've not said anything on the details, we can say with confidence they will now look at matters *other* than the current mutual obligations framework. We can all think of one or two legal issues of that description.

Let us be clear: This is one of the harms Labor risks with continued pursuit of rushed, reckless, problematic changes to the NDIS in the name of 'savings.' They were warned. Slowing down slightly isn't enough without major amendments to the deadly legislation that passed last year. #Auspol #NDIS

The fact that some families are acruing massive debts while awaiting changes in support plans from the NDIS Is testament to a broken system www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

How it started vs how it's going, exactly one year since this article. What a year. What an iceberg. And this was before the lists. #Auspol #NDIS #HarmCostsMore @thesaturdaypaper.com.au @squigglyrick.bsky.social @criprights.bsky.social

That I've heard multiple non-disabled people loudly state that help with gardening should not ever be a government funded support for disabled people is clear evidence that non-disabled people should not ever be responsible for deciding what funded supports disabled people can get #NDIS #Disability

NDIS deputy chief leading reform work quits, as government finally admits what we all knew: critical 'foundational supports' for those ineligible for NDIS or booted from the scheme will not be ready 1 July or even this year. There is no agreement. www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/health/...

They can't give us the disability support we need to be who we are. Then everyone would demand they tear up the stories written for us. RIP, the original intent. 🥀 @criprights.bsky.social #NDIS #Auspol #HarmCostsMore

“I know how to do grocery shopping. I cannot do it anymore. This is not a complex concept.”

You can watch the protest speeches live here, on right now! #HarmCostsMore #NDIS @criprights.bsky.social #Auspol player.onestream.live/embed?token=...

I won't be there tomorrow, because this #NDIS has me shut in, shut out & forced to fight for my right to be a fully participating citizen. That fight is continually worsening my disability, while the legal fees are billed to YOU. Kindness isn't weakness, Albo. #HarmCostsMore #StopTheCuts #Auspol

Still waiting for these docs, which are in the final stages of clearance. It's been almost 2.5 years, and it took ongoing IC Review visibility + hypothetical media headlines to get past practical refusal. For the assumptions of a billion-dollar calculator. #NDIS #Auspol #FOI

Once more, major aged care reforms - these ones largest since Howard - are granting buckets of money to providers. At least care requirements are also rising, but for-profit and non-profits alike are still not happy as we hurtle toward a 1 July start date. www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/health/...

From Villamanta: We're hosting a community forum about the NDIS Supports Lists! When: Monday 19 May 2025 1pm-3pm on Zoom. We're wanting to understand what participants really think about these lists to inform our feedback to the government. www.eventbrite.com.au/e/ndis-commu...

If you do not rely on something to keep you alive/to enable you to have a good life, you can't really grasp the importance of it to people who do. That's what they mean by skin in the game. That is why we must ensure that those who are the most impacted by systems are representing our communities.

Shifting the NDIS to the Health portfolio signals a move to a medical model of disability

If Plibersek wanted to seek revenge on Albanese she could always choose to be an activist in her role

Surprised to get the NDIA's draft #NDIS Therapy Supports OG back under FOI 😱 Or the December 2024 version, at least! And I have some thoughts about the nonsensical ban on diploma-qualified remedial massage therapists while the NDIA expects unqualified allied health assistants to do their job. 🤦‍♀️

🚨 Blog post w Power to Persuade @powertopersuade.bsky.social 🚨 I summarise my recent paper (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...). BUT: I really wanted to highlight how people with disability co-produce policy successes despite gov inaction. Pls share widely 🙏

Ignoring harm, saving face: non-knowledge, senior public servants and the Robodebt scheme www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

I hear DSS has no intention whatsoever of entertaining the principles-based Section 10 #NDIS Supports rule virtually every DRO advocated for. Nevermind making amends for the outrageous consultation last year. The original intent honoured the 2012 rejection of lists, Labor. 👇 #Auspol #Kindness

Meanwhile, "there is one staff member trained to handle MLO complaints within the Branch. Processing of your request would pose a risk to the efficient management of active matters and may mean a delay in processing new matters." Also, can a DISABILITY agency restrict MLO 2(f) to "legal" resources?

Love it when the NDIA accidentally share their top secret up and coming files with participants. Who, in the spirit of the public service, shared it with our community. Read it and weep.

This is a thing, and doctors in Aus are not at all aware of it! I had to flag it to everyone myself to have the relevant alert placed on my hospital file prior to surgery. Yet another reason proper diagnostic workup for symptomatic hypermobility is essential. EDS isn't just bendy joints.
