Pratchett has Sybil Vimes? And Agnes Nitt? And Nanny Ogg? And literally every wizard except Stibbons?

Muse.

Discworld has so many but my favorites are when the wizards accidentally invent AI and Granny Weatherwax’s broom that literally needs to be jumpstarted by jumping off a cliff.

It does not! Somehow, it gets worse!

And still, none of them knows anything about girls.

I once had a soldier whose wife was a Dreamer. I told him to get her citizenship asap. This was 2017? 18? They were so young. I think about them a lot lately.

There might be honor for Aiel in receiving their punishment *but we are never shown that.* This isn’t deep. It’s not some commentary on femdom. Just a criticism of some novels I’m enjoying otherwise.

Listen. My post was meant purely as commentary on how women are treated in the narrative compared to men. Da’covale are slaves. There is no honor is beating them, men or women, but we get shown the women getting beat.

I wouldn’t have as much of a problem if a man got spanked for any of the above reasons. I’m only on book 12, so maybe Rand or that dude who is like “what happens in gaishain time, stays in gaishain time” or if we hauled up a man and displayed him naked for a few days. That’s my problem.

So there are 41 books and many ways to read. Color of Magic is the very first, but a lot of people recommend starting with Guards! Guards! in the City Watch storyline. I think there’s no right or wrong way. I did publication my first time but pick what interests you! www.lspace.org/books/readin...

Have you tried the Discworld? It’s not wordy like WoT but the word play is delicious and oh so fun.

We got a hot tub at the top of this tower. Stunning 360 views. The best. We can talk cost afterwards.

I liked both Dirk Gently shows for different reasons. The Elijah Wood version is unhinged in the best way. Psych is an oldie but a good crime of the week show. I was crying at the completion of certain story lines by the end. Warehouse 13. A comfort show. Scifi but also cool history.

Fans are exhausting.

I saw the first two seasons and then started reading the books. I’m on 12 now! Who’s gatekeeping books? Is that what this is? “You’re only reading cause of the show?” How childish.

Super great point. And I didn’t know Nicole Maines was on Yellowjackets, I might have to give it another try.

It was a very deliberate decision to have a trans actress play not just an Aes Sedai but a KEEPER Aes Sedai, arguably the second most powerful woman in the Tower. So my take is that yes, that character is trans. I’ll only believe different if a writer for the show says so.

Joanne: “Women are women, and you should use the womens bathroom.” Also Joanne: “Not like that!!”

“May we offer you a trans Keeper in this trying time?”

For clarification. This is commentary on the books.

Have you read any Discworld by Sir Terry Pratchett??? (I get unnecessarily excited if I get to introduce a new person.)

Trollocs “Chopped.” “In your baskets you have mutton from the Two Rivers, a Tairen, venomous lizards from the Aiel waste and….a carrot. You have thirty minutes, your time starts now.” “Immediately, a stew comes to mind.”

I’ve got to hand it to Rand.

I had a joke about Perrin but Faile threatened to stab me and have the Cha Faile leave me in a clearing to die. I am scared of Faile.

Detritus’ crossbow, I’m dying.

Aviendha finds herself singing it under her breath because Elayne sings it all the time and Bain and Chiad are insufferable about it.
comment in response to post
If it helps, a Forsaken in the Age of Legends created trollocs as an unholy crossbreed/genetic experiment between humans and various animals. Add in some tainted magic and there you go. They don’t fit because they shouldn’t even be there. They are artificial constructs.

I wanna see him play a flute. I’ll settle for the harp.

What is queer, if not queer shaped?

Moraine is your new dad now.

Currently on Book 11. With so many characters, I went to the wiki to refresh my memory of who exactly is who. Like “I know this character was introduced three books ago, who are they again?” I’ve given up on spoilers.
comment in response to post
I wish I had seen this ten minutes ago. I wish you well today.

I forgot she called her poor too! And something about the fish. And the contrast to Moraine who is like “I will be your damn fish wife in a hut, I actually prefer you this way.” Ugh.

And then Elaida walks in and says

The Expanse is SO GOOD. Shohreh Aghdashloo is just amazing. So if you want more Elaida, The Expanse is it.

I’m a fast reader. And when I saw the relase date for season 3 last summer, I thought “yeah, I can finish before March.” I’ve been reading every day since July and I’m on book 11.

You have to understand that the “breaking” was like the apocalypse. Just chaos. Took awhile to recover. So these bandits are just run of the mill jerks who like to exploit others and theres very little deterrent. And the Aiel at that time were completely defenseless and an easy target.
comment in response to post
I had to look it up and Elaida is only six years older? Idk why I thought there was a much larger gap.
