1,000 SOTO HITS He’s already the only player with 800+ walks before turning 27 If we lower that to 700 walks & add the 1,000 hits both before turning 27, he’s the third, joining: Mel Ott Mickey Mantle

Absolutely brilliant.

Happy hatch day to Rizzo. He's 3 years old, we've had him for 1.5 years. Been a rescue project as he had a poor first year, but he's blossomed into a crazy little guy.

Starting a support group for people who played the original, "Berzerk!"-inspired "Castle Wolfenstein" on Commodore64 and were traumatized by the SS guy bursting into the room and shouting "WAS IST DAS?!!!" I remembered that today and it almost broke my nervous system. Real heads know.

For me, it was Cyber Sled followed by Star Wars Arcade. But top 2 is still pretty good given all the amazing games out there.

If I won the lottery, I wouldn't tell anyone, but there would be signs. Like this new wallpaper in my house. #cardsky

Getting ChatGPT ready for a rematch will be a real... Adventure

When you give Ascended Astarion all the good gear. #bg3

Bring back the fez!

My 4yo's new fave book is Dr Seuss "If I Ran The Zoo" and whilst reading it, I came across this page. Could it be the coining of the word "Nerd?" YES. IT IS.

Ten million posts about the state of AI and they’re all just iterations on a Shel Silverstein poem written when the Atari 400 cost half as much as a used car

evergreen post

People excited about using alt + 0150 for an em dash, and here I am using Ctrl + NumPad hyphen for en dash and Ctrl + Alt + minus for em dash. Even quicker!

"em dashes are a sign that something was written by AI" you are simply jealous that i've memorized that I can hold alt and press 0151 on the numpad to produce an em dash whenever i desire. look: —. it's beautiful. i'll even do it again: —

DONUT DITCH DAY

I just got a new credit card and the expiration date is “30” and it took me a sec and then I realized it was 2030 and all of my teeth fell out and I can be found rocking on the porch under a quilt.

I just saw a good example of what I was talking about with chatgpt being a crackpot generating machine. A guy had started Wheeler's Spacetime Physics, and had a problem on page 2. Wheeler expressed a square root as a power of 1/2. √a = a^1/2. This is basic algebra, not physics.

"I was pitching before you were born"

Today is a red letter day in media history where a major newspaper managed to passive voice the actual publishing of itself

"we did not create or approve the thing that we printed and distributed in our production" okay sweetie.

Thanks Microsoft Teams for that not-at-all-chilling message 😧

Respond with a movie image that always cheers you up, don't name the movie, just post the image

WHAT!??! A Tip Drill home run saving catch! 😳 You'll be seeing this Catch for a long long time!

Their sound was copied by the 90s band Lens Cleaner, which had only 3 tracks on their CDs.

help I'm obsessed with the warring mother robins who unhappily share a nest

I have three types of TTRPG characters: 1. Goody Two-Shoes new to adventuring and in over their head. 2. Moody archer out for vengeance, isn't always going to do the right thing. 3. Lumbering unarmed Luxodon fighter who grapples with his trunk, doesn't take crap from anyone, soft spot for kids.

This is just making me think about the teacher who realized a student plagiarized a paper on 1984 because he replaced everything with synonyms, to the point of referring to “Large Sibling”

SABR has done amazing work on this so highly recommended.

The best women's baseball player in the world, Ayami Sato, just made her debut playing men's pro ball in Toronto and had a 3-up 3-down first inning

"college students use AI for their work and therefore that's a point in AI's favor" college students do lots of goofy shit they probably shouldn't that they'll only realize was a mistake later on but thank you for wasting my time

This rocks. It seems to me like these techniques would benefit students (or anyone) with or without the AI component.

Still pretty shocked that Skype was best for gaming with my family, who don't use headphones. Never heard the game's audio over Skype. Hear the double echo over Discord and Steam. Maybe there are some more tricks to try with those two, but Skype just worked.
