History, and Politics. Trump's depravity will destroy him.

Ok I had to look it up. Apparently this is a famous moment from Sex and the City, when someone breaks up with Carrie (the star). Today Musk broke with Trump on his stupid Tax bill.

Quite agree. Watch, listen to and read everything. I used to be appalled by Fox viewers posting how proud they were for never having watched CNN or MSNBC. It's a terrible approach and one that now is common on both "sides".

Remarkable. Not destroyed (yet) though.

I guess you have a lot of influence.

You'll find many people here who believe that to give exposure to people like Yarvin is to (perhaps unwittingly) promote them. To allow them the oxygen of publicity. They also castigate the New Yorker article and advise not to read it, while quoting from it extensively.

What could go wrong? He's thought of everything.

No. She's just nasty. A few years ago it was normal to HIDE nastiness. You had to in order to get along in the world. Then Trump came along. Since then nastiness has been in vogue. It can be a winning approach. She may have misjudged this one though. Hopefully she'll get tossed out at election.

I have read a lot of replies to this post. Not impressive. Blame MAGA. Call a walk in the park by some elderly folk in support of hostages a "nazi march". Some people who sit here all day criticizing MAGA for its inhumanity really need to look in the mirror.

A Nazi March? Really? A walk in the park in support of people being held hostage?

Thanks for offering a moderating viewpoint. I agree that he's probably not trying to say "we are not in love with the rule of law" or something like that. We are all far too suggestible. too easily riled up. An arrogant and dangerous man though.

Good grief. That is a very successful attack. Forty planes!

Single-payer healthcare, modelled on a combination of the best aspects of the French, British, Canadian and Spanish systems.

Even during Trump's first term, I thought that Republicans in Congress behaved as though they did not fear History's judgement, because they believed a page had been turned. Future histories would be written only by people like them.

Trump is prone to allowing impromptu pressers. If several of the journalists hammered him on this topic, I would like to hear his response.

It must be punishing for her to have to spend less time with Stephen Miller.

If only there had been some signs that Hegseth wasn't fit to run a $1tn budget, from his time at Fox.

I've always been dubious about Wes Anderson too. But I gave Asteroid City a chance, and thought some of it worked very well. The "two dimensional" style (where everyone is lookinh directly at the camera) is a turn-off.

I guess they'll suspend this on Thursday, and then it will be back again on Monday. What a shitshow America is in 2025.

Yeah it's been sheepless for a couple of years now though. It looks like they've switched strategies.

There's a tank in the video! Your last one?

Yes I am sure it represents a state of affairs. It's annoying though. I have seen this story around and I believed that it referred to this actual individual.

A solar farm near me was set up in a grassy field. Sheep - a lot of them - wandered happily around the panels, keeping the grass short. Looked to be working ok, but the sheep are gone now.

The message is just photoshopped on. Not good.

Again. Trump is capable of interpreting "Canada is wonderful" comments as political.

No, they are walking a tightrope. They won't be scornful of Trump.

I expect that the royal staff liaised with the Canadian govt. He, and the UK, would not allow for anything damaging in the speech. I believe he will praise Canada as an independent country though, and that will probably set the American simpleton off.

Sure it's messy. But it sort of works doesn't it? America became a republic a long time ago. Canada became a Dominion and then an independent country with a figurehead monarch. Canadians ended up with Carney, and the US with Trump. Canada isn't psychotic. The US...

Well of course it's being played down. From his reaction he didn't look like he saw it as affectionate horseplay. Anyway, these things happen. Macron seems like a decent guy. I hope all is well.

It's real. It's on the BBC.

The "80% of the universe" bit doesn't sound like Trump. He wouldn't have heard things like that. The "tears in their eyes" bit is an old Trump favorite, but the point at which the gag feels "overegged". 5/10.

Do you really want to see made-up stuff like this every day? Like in the campaign. Every day Trump was "in meltdown", it's "all over", "he's gone", he's "crushed" "destroyed" "broken" "finished" "eviscerated". Then the ****er wins. Who benefits?
comment in response to post
I'd say that Trump wanted to give Putin half of Ukraine, stop the war, and say "Give me my Nobel Peace Prize". Putin is embarrassing him, and he wants that to stop, so he can get to the boasting part.

That's what nobody gets. Tariffs against t-shirts made in Malaysia will mean tanks in the future will be made in America, instead of being made in America as now.

That's what They want you to believe.

The Jubilee Peterson thing on YouTube? It exposes the essential nastiness of Jordan Peterson - which he doesn't unleash on "celebrity" opponents like O'Connor or Dawkins. There is a rage inside him. I have always thought that he needs therapy.

Good grief. Rubio also lied and said he also didn't know about the crypto dinner. This illustrates that they know it was a corrupt event. If there are economic setbacks, this is the kind of thing that will become political dynamite.

It's very brave. But. Two young children. It doesn't seem right.

I saw Vin for the first time in 1975. So that's 50 years ago. So so good. A few years later I took a friend of mine (who was a serious musicologist, gifted musician) to one of his gigs. Interval came. I said "What do you think?". He said "He's a genius".

I know what you mean. But I still really liked the way it sounded.

In the real world, there are two feasible ways out of this. - A recession, which would break the MAGA spell with their base. - Mutiny by a few GOP members in Congress, putting country before party and defecting to the opposition. Either is POSSible. Not yet though.

Trump is stupid. But he is extraordinarily lucky. His luck ran out with his casino/resorts business. But then he got lucky again with the Apprentice garbage. He got elected twice despite being dim and nasty. It will just need a bad economy though and his luck will all unravel very quickly.
