Um. That person was confused. Privilege and protected status are in no way equivalent. That you were told that is beyond bizarre. Doesn’t pass the laugh test.

All of our special interests are “odd”…until they’re not and then we’re relevant as hell. 😜

And and! Patrick Stewart gave an interview years later where he talked about how Hardy wouldn’t hang out with the cast off camera!! He just sort of did his thing and left. Stewart remarked then (with regret) that “that man has no future in show business”

For me and my hardcore punk friends mid 1980’s in NE Texas it was pound cake and the NO2 contents of as much Reddi whip as we could buy. With Minor Threat and Circle Jerks on the cassette. Until the D batteries ran out.

If you ever saw his performance as Picard in ST: Nemesis you will be completely unsurprised. Welcome to the family my good man. We’re glad you’re here.

There’s not a month that goes by where I don’t reference this brilliant man’s contribution to visual analytics. Well said, Cheshire.

Autism is not a disease, it’s a neurotype. So why are we trying to prevent it, and by so doing eradicate a group of people from whom society ALSO highly benefits (engineers, scientists, programmers)? Why aren’t authentic autistic voices being asked about this policy change?

What you focus on, you get more of. So if the metric is allistic behavior and not happiness (less suffering and more joy) then, well, it’s just repackaged ABA. Damn.

I’d like to see longitudinal studies involving adults with DIR Floortime. Socialization skills with allistics isn’t in and of itself the problem, it’s in the how. Contrast ABA “aversives”/isolation which are torture, full stop. That said, where’s the data on DIR Floortime outcomes in adults?
