And this is why the Tech Bros like Thiel and Yarvin don’t like democracy, because in democracy, you can oppose the powerful/rich…

I read “anything is possible” in a different way…I was like, “oh, God, he’s right…anything IS possible…that means things can get worse!” 🤪 Things will be better after coffee.

But, but….the purity test…

Yes!! How the eff can people be healthy if they have no TIME! Free childcare…living wages…THAT creates margin…margin enough for people to be to take care of themselves!

What makes it “pink”? Campari? Aperol? Dubonnet?

I’m not a wordsmith… Re-rexing Re-lexing Re L’ Rexing (French version)

I feel like there has got to be a way to merge the word “relaxing” with your last name, and then make it a verb 😊…and then put it on a tee shirt for everyone in your family…

So, the Michael Scott method of diplomacy doesn’t work?

I feel like I pretty much ignore it until I can’t anymore…there’s so much other stuff I *can’t* ignore. Kids school, their sports, when they’re sick…there is so much that can’t be ignored that I end up ignoring stuff (like summer camps) because I need to ignore something to give myself margin 🤦🏼‍♂️

Before I had kids, I would make a sandwich and put away all the fixins before eating. Now, I make the sandwich and devour it at the counter like an animal before a little one can interrupt my feast. The sandwich is gone in less than 90 seconds 😂

If it was a cocktail bar, you could call it “Animal Spirits”; they could name a drink “Speculative Bubbles” (a champagne-based cocktail). They could also call the mandatory tip on large groups “The Volcker Shock”. 😊

Martinis, Manhattans, and Margaritas are basically the same thing…but yes, the name “old fashioned” comes from people, post-prohibition, rejecting the fruitification of the drink

You have absolutely NAILED this!

The manhattan is the martini of rye (or bourbon) cocktails 😊

So, I got some “gomme syrup” from Small Hand Foods to be my simple syrup to make a proper, 19th century “whiskey cocktail” which used to be make with Rye, and Prohibition ruined it by “fruiting” it (because the booze was so bad)…people called for a whiskey cocktail made in the “old fashioned” way 😉

And because of that, I learned a new way to make old fashioneds

My friend’s aunt had a farm up in Door County and we would visit her in summer….brats and brandy old fashioneds (Korbel of course) 😌

What we really need is for cities to pay for noise-canceling headphones for EVERYONE…then YIMBY’s would abound, especially since everyone has a bullshit “work-from-home” job nowadays

So, help me, because I’m ignorant…we need more density whilst also needing less sound? Sounds good. But you gotta tell my neighbor about “the bass…the bass…the bass…the bass”

The bread slab needs a home…also, the slab needs some pesto and prosciutto and a drizzle of proper balsamic vinegar from Modena…and also…some burrata…

I feel like we need a version of this flag where there is a cute teddy bear hugging the snake…the snake needs to chill the eff out…

Maybe I’m a pessimist (as a student of “the dismal science”), but I see those institutions as collective action problems too, sadly. Group dynamics are a mofo.
comment in response to post
That very much has “eff the man” vibes…

Collective action problems..no one wants to stick their neck out (i.e. “defect”), when that is seen by them as a game-ender for themselves. Successful (counter)revolutions are small in number for a reason. We are mostly “stability-seeking” (cowards) at our core. “Let us hope the T-Rex just walks by”

Camps are super expensive now, and even though there are some that are “cheaper”, it’s because they are from 9am to Noon 🤦🏼‍♂️😑 #nothelpful

Turns out “pivoting hard” to the left was not a winning strategy…also turns out “pivoting hard” to the left also meant “we believe in habeas corpus”…

Do they have to refer to him as “Dear Leader”? I’m pretty sure I would apply as a joke, and find a speech given at some point praising one of the Kim’s and just copy and paste…or ask ChatGPT to write a glowing letter as if written to one of the DPRK leaders…
