My unpopular opinion is that I think most folks are vastly overestimating the competence of Vance because he doesn’t constantly present to the world as a profane cognitive merry-go-round. Take Vance seriously, but stop giving him so much credit. He’s mediocre. He doesn’t deserve that respect.

I’m…. Conflicted on this point. Pedantic background here: I’ve spent my entire career in distributed systems. Peer to peer is good at a lot, but they very much struggle to be even vaguely power efficient at a lot of tasks, large scale web hosting being one of them.
