A 🧡 to walk those interested through this paper...

Excited to share our preprint on the molecular architecture of heterochromatin in human cells πŸ§¬πŸ”¬w/ @jpkreysing.bsky.social, @johannesbetz.bsky.social, @marinalusic.bsky.social, TuroňovΓ‘ lab, @hummerlab.bsky.social @becklab.bsky.social @mpibp.bsky.social πŸ”— Preprint here tinyurl.com/3a74uanv

@laghalab.bsky.social excellent talk at the RNA Biology Microsymposium today! I appreciate talks where models and the ways in which they can (and cannot) lend themselves to studying a given question are discussed!

For a new Perspective in GBE, Au et al. provide an overview on whole genome duplications in animals, arguing that they have occurred frequently across invertebrates; expanding WGD studies is thus essential for understanding metazoan evolution. πŸ”— doi.org/10.1093/gbe/... #genome #duplication

New preprint of my postdoc work! We found a novel group of zinc-finger proteins that rapidly evolved in a lineage-specific manner to repress regulatory activities of transposon-derived sequences through anchoring nucleosomes. #TEsky biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

March issue: Amino acids that are more different do have lower rates of exchange over evolutionary time, and this result is general to different taxonomic groups. doi.org/10.1093/gbe/... #MolecularEvolution #AminoAcids #OpenAccess
