Maybe so - and that's not a healthy way to go through life. People who devote a lot of time to 6502 assembly nowadays - myself included - view that as part of their identity. Are we getting jobs from that? Generally no. Does society care? No. But are we invalidated? Also no.

Sure the 6501 wasn’t the drop-in, and for legal reasons that was changed for the 6502?

Provisionally, I think I MAY use Chuck Peddle as you can't not cover the MOS 6502. But i kinda want to split his story out from Jack Tramiel's in the book version of all this and tell the VIC-20 story through him, then Tramiel for the rest of Commodore. So that makes using him in chips awkward.

Check if (a) you’re actually wearing them or (b) they’re pushed up on your head. THAT is when you know you’re old.

Lovely 6502 output code! Proper old-school game development.

I tried getting art added to our company’s technical docs. To no avail. If I did it today, I’d be accused of using AI.

I’ve found the same. Z80 too. LLMs are better at higher level languages - perhaps because LLMs are good at using the human brain’s ability to find meaning in text, even if it’s not quite perfect. Machine code has no margin for error.

Optimised code? Luxury! Half the time writing optimal code in 6502 means writing the fastest self-modifying code generator to create the fastest code on the fly. Wouldn't be fun if it was easy though...

Don’t do it..

( I can’t cope with the narration pro-noun-ci-ations and pacing, but there is a transcript )

Haha so it’s the KIM-1 then?

Could be anything but probably most often a branch, indeed.

Dig the colours. If we had 3D printers in the 1970s this is what we would print.

(Technically a 6507, not a 6502).
