I backpacked around iran, wonderful people, country, culture, and very particularly food. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming.....highly educated, sophisticated culture, 1000's of years old......

this is so true, I talked to my grandparents, (3 in WW2 service, one a multi year camper at greenham common), they were so brave, so fucking decent
comment in response to post
this is not true, the US is a country with seniorage, and the world's global reserve currency......the US can always pay it's US$ liabilities politicians may chose not to, but that's a policy choice

I had unfollowed you, it's quite apparent you're not keen on learning new stuff I offered no opinion on what to spend the money on, just that you don't have to raise it in taxes, that's the progressive view on taxes, just build the roads, pay for M4A, free education, these don't need taxes
comment in response to post
and thus is not basic monetary theory if there is such a thing.....modern monetary theory is nicely ex0lained in Stephanie Keltons newish documentary.....Finding the Money

no one said indefinitely, I mentioned taxes for when inflation gets too high... but please don't think Weimar Germany is a comparable situation, the debt was in a foreign currency and germanys national output had just been decimated of debts the problem, why is Japan in constant deflation?
comment in response to post
taxes are good for stopping billionaires and cutting inflation if it gets too high the level of inflation is political, inflation with wage increases transfers wealth from rich people to poor people, that's why right wingers like deflationary or low inflation environments
comment in response to post
not for a sovereign nation that creates its own money. you can not compare Canada to a household. Canadian public sector debt becomes private sector assets. lowering taxes is not right wing, if you cut billionaires taxes that's right wing, if you cut working class taxes that's progressive
comment in response to post
he's a banker that knows a country with seiniorage doesn't need to raise taxes to spend money. that's a right wing economic trope designed to jeep economies running cold.....personally a wealth tax is needed, not to raise money, but to stop people becoming too rich

this is what private equity does a lot (not just publishing), buy company, strip out assets, load balance sheet with debt, pay huge dividend to equity owners, raid pensions of employees, put company into bankruptcy, walk away, leaving vendors, employees fucked without payments, jobs, or pensions

I'm am a far left activist that understands there is not just one US foreign policy. The US often destabilized countries, organized coups, and murdered left wing and union activists.....this is bad but that doesn't mean you can't recognize USAID was good this is not doublethink

I have definately heard certain birds bond for life, does that mean total monogamy? I think we are consistently surprised by (all) animals intelligence and emotional sophistication, could there be an act of surrogacy here? I'm just trying to understand how we think this event was possible

buying a car is always a losing investment (except rare cars), also, they are bad for the environment (either driving or construction)..... so reuse (buy older car), buy cheap (less depreciation)
