While bombing Iran is bad for Trump’s poll numbers, starting a war and creating chaos is good for Trump as an authoritarian. Authoritarians exploit chaos to claim emergency powers, deploy the military domestically, and undermine free and fair elections. These attacks must be viewed from this lens.

It’s a good thing Congress isn’t alive to see this

I’ll say it again: It was a huge mistake for Congress to abolish itself.

We’ve leapt over a lot of red lines in the last week. But one I find most worrying is Trump/MAGA/ICE have ceased even pretending to claim some criminal pretext for cracking down on protected speech. It’s just straight up “if you criticize us, you’re getting throttled/arrested/disappeared.”

@rawstory.com Why hasn't Rawstory updated their Science news for weeks, if not months? You need to fire the person responsible for the Science news. How can NO one at Rawstory notice this failure? Seriously??

I started Democracy Docket in 2020 to track and expose Donald Trump's attacks on democracy. Its work is more vital today than ever before. Fiercely independent and unapologetically pro-democracy, it will never bow down. Join today to support its vital work. www.democracydocket.com/member-me/

President Trump fired two Democratic commissioners at the Federal Trade Commission in a direct challenge to a 90-year-old Supreme Court ruling protecting independent agencies. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

When these institutions — big law firms, Ivy League universities —bow to Trump rather than fighting what appear to be illegal orders, do they think he’ll just be satisfied and stop? Do they just expect others to fight where they won’t?

Republicans seem confused. They think we must sacrifice our & our family's well-being, health, & lives, to cut the wealthy's taxes? Did he forget Republican's multiple tax cuts for the wealthy & corp welfare are responsible for Trillions $ of our debt?? www.rawstory.com/mike-flood/

This is an opinion piece that evidently meets Jeff Bezos' new test for supporting "personal liberties and free markets." Support pro-democracy independent media.

As of today, a new term has entered our language. A “rubio” is a spineless lump of nothing. Example: Don’t be such a rubio.

Ohio Republicans override the will of voters by claiming "voters didn't understand what they voted for. There are many trump voters who did NOT know what he'd do, once given power. Do states now withhold sending funds to fed govt cuz voters didn't what FOTUS would do?

🚨BREAKING: A federal judge ordered Trump officials with knowledge of the workings of billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to testify under oath in a lawsuit challenging the faux agency’s access to sensitive governmental databases. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

The White House said in a court filing that Elon Musk is not a DOGE employee, instead solely serving as a senior advisor to Trump. Marc Elias discusses how the claim causes more confusion and questions about who is actually leading DOGE. Watch here:

Just cut federal cancer research & food for starving children.

Wrong. You work for us. And we won't let you kill journalism.

After 1,000 National Park Service employees were abruptly fired on February 14, staff banded together to signal “dire distress” by draping an upside-down American flag from the 3,000-foot summit of Yosemite’s iconic El Capitan monolith.

I would kindly ask that as many of us as possible start a monthly donation to @marcelias.bsky.social Democracy Docket, one of our best legal fighter for Democracy

NEW VIDEO: I have never seen as many federal judges angry with the federal government as there are right now. And one judge in Rhode Island seems poised to find someone in criminal contempt. Paige and I discuss. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVzF...

With the attacks against DEIA being readied by DOJ, don’t forget that Trump’s judicial nominees almost always demurred when asked in their confirmation hearings whether Brown v. Board was wrongly decided. In case you are wondering where the anticipated endpoint is
