Imagine stormtroopers throwing you to the ground and handcuffing you and then a few days later voting for the leader of the stormtroopers to make billions from crypto. It’s fucking ridiculous. I really have so much contempt for these people

Any chance the @democrats.org will share clear, strong messaging on this? "Republicans are taking $1600 from you and giving your company execs $12,000. You (and six of your coworkers) have to chip in $1600 (EACH) -- to give Chad in the c-suite $12k for Boss's Day." Add #12kBossDay maybe? Eh? No?

Don't worry poors of America, they'll get back to vigorously(ish) defending Democracy on Monday. Maybe Tuesday, you know Veuve Clicqout gives them all *such* a headache and Soros didn't spring for Dom. Tuxes to wear, wait staff to belittle, caviar bumps to do, the usual grind.

They're wringing their hands and sad about (gestures wanly) "all of this" but their answer? Is NOT another party. Rather, vainly hope their current one gets better. Eventually. Maybe. Or at least saves them some tax money, that'd be good enough. Warmly inviting them into the fold ain't it.

The only people I know and can influence are the Trumpists in my personal life, and that Will. Not. Work. They HATE and DESPISE Democrats so thoroughly that Reagan himself, rising from the dead, couldn't convince them to vote D.

The gosling population of my lil' Central IN pond has grown noticeably this year. But not because of more breeding pairs, the same # of parents (if not fewer) have had *significantly* larger broods/clutches/whatever you call a group of geese babies. (nb: anecdotal, unscientific, blah blah etc)

I can’t wait for some of the most insufferable voices on this app and across social media to start screaming that if we don’t come together with Trump voters then we are no better than Trump voters as they did in 2020 and as they did after Bush stole the election in 2000.

It is good to be understanding and empathetic, no matter how someone voted. We do not need to hear first/most from Trump voters! As the piece said, only a tiny fraction of those harmed by Trumpist policies can be heard, why waste a resource (time/attention) on a group who literally asked for it?

Always check for calves and kids before deploying motorized equipment, no matter the size of your lawn/pasture. Calves and kids can include cows, rhinos, the back of your dad's hairy shins, small goats AND tiny humans -- all things we want to keep intact!

But so what? This is last year's problem. I really, really wish we were in a world in which it made sense to keep dwelling on it, because no new problems had popped up, but we don't, and I wish journalists would stop trying to pretend we did. They should just do their jobs, in THIS world.

I am very sympathetic to the fragile hold each news org has on their briefing room seats right now. It's a scary time. But THIS is the time we need a strong and morally upright press. A press to speak the truth with clarity and bravery in the face of authoritarian threats. And it's not happening

BAR PIE. Repeat after me, Chicago style party-cut bar (tavern) pie. It's crispy and doughy and cheesy and salty and herby and perfect. No box! Cardboard circle, paper sleeve! Deep dish is for once a year when you feel a bowl of molten cheese (non-nacho category) or a cousin is home out of town.

May I recommend the alt text? It might be juvenile, but it is well considered. She and her ilk are doing far faaaar more harm than my fourth-rate schoolyard taunt (buried in the replies of a Wired skeet they will never *ever* read) could ever. We've been the bigger people, all it got us was here.

Alt text is surprisingly useful

Can this woman ever be bothered to bother? She looks exactly the same as she always does--too cool to try. Lackluster hair, overglossed lips, a watch your mom used to wear, and a jacket your dad used wear but as a dress. This features *no* tailoring, dandyism, or nods to Black fashion excellence

My dude, the charming fat man is such a *positive* stereotype, the stereotype has a beloved mascot and that mascot has a beloved wife. (Shout out to Santa and Mrs Claus in the off-season).

I mean, there is an Emily Post right and then there is Eating Experience right, who you gonna trust? Em says the rightmost, experience says middle every damn time. (Now 🤓 whatcha got there is a serving spoon, soup spoon, and teaspoon. You're missing the tablespoon standard in a flatware service.)

Yeah, the message isn’t that men are bad. The message is that Andrew Tate is bad. Like, wtf is wrong with you when you hear that and your interpretation is “well, I guess boys are bad, and the only recourse is to not be a boy.”

Less than a rounding error. Insignificant. De minimis, you might say.

I want to send this thread (and maps!) to my mom and friends, but also .... I don't know that I want to be the one to ruin all of their 'lovely European market' memories.
