Meow saw a "manual stick shift driving instruction" advertisement while driving.
Meow now drives an electric vehicle, with fond memories of an ancient jaguar that only upshifted. In order. To go from 4th to 3rd required 4==>1==>2==>3. Meow did *not* enjoy driving that in San Francisco, no meow!

... maybe. I spent a week and a half chasing a race error in code. When I finally identified the race condition as the COMPILER's improperly optimizing away a far-pointer validity check (the compiler messed up? I was naive and shocked ...).
Relieved? yes. Happy? Nope.

It's the Xtian Nationalist syndrome of identifying as the "only responsible adult". By trivializing or implying childhood for others ... they assume the (unwanted, undeserved) mantle of designated parent.

I suppose it depends upon what you by trust. But yes, the men on the verge of gaining power are exactly those on whom power ought not be bestowed.
