Day 8 of my #AtoZphotos - H. Houses on a hill. Wellington.

My little Papers Past rabbit-hole, I found out my Aunty Mary was accepted on a waiting list of probationers in Nov 1931 (aged 23); Became a State Registered Nurse July 1936; Passed State Maternity exams Jan 1938; Passed Midwives exam July 1938. Back in New Plymouth as district nurse by 1944.

Worked out via Papers Past in the end that my Aunty became a Registered Nurse in July 1936. And at the time she was nursing in Timaru. I'd seen someone of the same name on the Timaru electoral roll but thought it was another person. But it was her.

Finished the genealogy newsletter, been for a swim, so now indulging in a wee Papers Past rabbit hole. Found an article with my Dad top of the list- June 1940- he was headed off for military training. @mghistorical.com @cathyclarke77.bsky.social @cbgenealogy.ie

Day 7 of my #AtoZ photos - G Ghost of the Huia - by Paul Dibble 2010 , on the Square, Palmerston North

Further to this point—there are two classes of vitamins, water-soluble and fat-soluble. You'll eventually piss out any excess water-soluble vitamins, but fat-soluble vitamins like A get stored away in adipose tissue and release slowly over time. Not only poisoning, but *chronic* poisoning.

A parliament which denies Māori representation is not in any sense of the word Aotearoa's Parliament. Instead its a racist colonial regime, and it is asking people to view it and then treat it as such.

This is the worst punishment handed down EVER in our history. The worst on record was 3 days! When Tangata whenua resist, colonial powers reach for maximum penalty. This is a warning shot to all of us to fall in line. E kore rawa matau e tuohu! #toitūtetiriti #toitūtemanamāori #NZPol

Day 4 of my #AtoZphotos -D for Ducks. Spied yesterday on the Lagoon in Palmerston North.

Serious question: What exactly does this pettiness achieve apart from giving Government spinners and house-trained commentators clear air to set the immediate narrative? #nzpol

On Monday, the government tried to throw a dead cat on the table in the form of social media bans for rangatahi, to stop us talking about screwing over woman with their abhorrent pay equity legislation changes. I am heartened to see that it did not work.

So it's drizzling a bit outside. I mowed the front lawns yesterday morning and the back lawns were on today's list. But it's too wet. How sad. I'll have to go for a swim instead!

You'll understand this joy @cathyclarke77.bsky.social I'm compiling our May newsletter. Have been waiting a few months to include something about the New Zealand Gazette. I knew I'd collected up a pile of links. Have only now found that I had actually already compiled these into a document. Yeah!!

~Dance of Dandelions~ A small selection of Dandelion's puffs images (Dandelion's clocks). They are such a fine object for macro photography, so delicate, patterned and textured. 🌼🔆 #nature #photography #flora #wildflowers #dandelions #dandelionclock#macrophotography

Another gentle autumn day. A walk by the Lagoon, Palmy.

Murder on the Orient Express is on Kanopy. And I am sitting down to watch it for two hours.
