Lucy did a great job chairing, and Matt, Andrew, and Sharon brought their experience and insights. I hope others can learn from them and support a collective transition to a more equitable and sustainable future for libraries, for users, and for publishers/infrastructures committed to open.

Meeting so many people, particularly early career librarians, at the 9th Germany Library Congress was a huge privilege. Likewise, contributing to @uklibrariesnag.bsky.social's workshop on OA books (major thanks to the work of the sublime @alittleroad.bsky.social!) in the same week was 🤌. Now? BED!

@simonxix.com if your HDMI borks the screen's display, try removing xserver-xorg-core and install xserver-xorg.

Wouldn't we rather work together with publishers and scholars that share the values of your approaches to open, rather than purchasing "solutions"? Budgets and institutional politics may be strained, but there are opportunities to explore to change and enhance research and publishing environments.

That's part of what @copim.bsky.social and others have been trying to facilitate with librarians, with scholars, and with publishers committed to fairer open access futures. By changing our relations -- becoming partners rather than clients -- we can collaborate.

We don't need a new product or service to replace the extant legacy and proprietary book publishing system! We can work together to collectively create alternative visions for open access books that are more equitable, more bibliodiverse, and more sustainable!

I had the Professional Grade Inverted Colander & Lunch Box Laptop Raising Set™ to help me in today's webinar. Big thanks to @alittleroad.bsky.social, @uklibrariesnag.bsky.social, all the panelists, and all attendees! Community-led Diamond OA is in all of our collective futures :)

The CEO of Piazza contacted my employer. Here is the story of what happened next. I always knew that we needed to protect our students from Palantir, but the stakes are now higher than ever. Piazza boasts about having data about millions of students. Palantir has it too, and will harm them with it.
